<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Protecting the sea is not only about caring for what can be seen on the surface, but also about safeguarding the life that thrives beneath it. Coral reefs are an important part of marine ecosystems, providing habitats for diverse marine life while helping to maintain the balance of coastal areas. Therefore, their conservation requires knowledge, skills and collaboration among various stakeholders.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This commitment was brought to life through Coral Reef Transplantation Training held at Pantai Indah Pandan, Central Tapanuli Regency, on 10th September 2026. The activity was a collaboration between Agincourt Resources, Yayasan Masyarakat Penjaga Pantai Barat, Bank Sampah Yamantab, and Kelompok Konservasi Laut Nusantara (KKLN).</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The activity was attended by KKLN Chairperson Antonius Zebua and Head of the Conservation Area Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) at the North Sumatra Provincial Marine and Fisheries Service, Eliezeri Irfan Hulu. Representing Agincourt Resources, Biodiversity Management Supervisor Muhamad Kurniawan attended alongside the Biodiversity Management team.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-large"><img data-dominant-color="8a8b87" data-has-transparency="false" style="--dominant-color: #8a8b87;" fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_0383-1024x683.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-337376 not-transparent" srcset="https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_0383-1024x683.webp 1024w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_0383-300x200.webp 300w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_0383-768x512.webp 768w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_0383-1536x1024.webp 1536w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_0383-2048x1365.webp 2048w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_0383-1080x720.webp 1080w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_0383-1280x854.webp 1280w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_0383-980x653.webp 980w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/IMG_0383-480x320.webp 480w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The training comprised a series of activities, including registration, an opening session, presentation of materials, and a coral reef transplantation workshop. Participants also took part in practical sessions as part of their learning about efforts to restore and conserve coral reef ecosystems.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Coral reef transplantation is one of the approaches used to rehabilitate ecosystems by relocating or propagating coral fragments so that they can grow again in areas requiring restoration. Through this training, participants were introduced to the approach in a practical manner, enabling efforts to protect marine ecosystems to be carried out with the appropriate knowledge and skills.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">For Agincourt Resources, collaboration in conservation is part of its commitment to fostering environmental awareness beyond the boundaries of its operational area. By working together with communities and stakeholders, knowledge and experience can be shared to support the sustainability of coastal ecosystems.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Environmental sustainability is determined not only by the conservation of forests but also by the health of coastal and marine ecosystems that support life. As part of the 2026 World Environment Day programme, Agincourt Resources organised a Mangrove Conservation Clean-up Campaign and an Artificial Reef Construction Workshop at the Pandan Mangrove Conservation Area, Central Tapanuli Regency, on 25th June 2026.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/2-1024x683.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-331367" srcset="https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/2-980x653.webp 980w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/2-480x320.webp 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Held under the theme &#8220;It&#8217;s Time to Act for the Climate&#8221;, the event brought together local communities, regional government representatives, environmental organisations, members of the media, and Agincourt Resources employees in a collaborative effort to safeguard coastal ecosystems.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/4-1024x683.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-331365" srcset="https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/4-980x653.webp 980w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/4-480x320.webp 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The programme was organised in partnership with Yamantab Waste Bank and the Mandiri Lestari Forest Farmer Group. Activities began with a clean-up of the beach and surrounding mangrove forest. A total of 60 participants collected approximately 150 kilograms of waste, including plastic, paper, cardboard, metal cans, and glass. All collected waste was sorted before being managed and recycled through Yamantab Waste Bank as part of the implementation of circular economy principles.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Damai Mendrofa, Chair of Yamantab Central Tapanuli, explained that the initiative aimed to raise public awareness of the importance of protecting mangrove ecosystems while encouraging visitors to take responsibility for the waste they generate, preventing pollution of both the sea and mangrove habitats.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In addition to the clean-up campaign, participants attended a knowledge-sharing session on coastal ecosystems delivered by Yuna Ratna Wulansari, Biodiversity Researcher from Agincourt Resources&#8217; Environment Department. The session highlighted the interconnected roles of mangrove forests, seagrass meadows, and coral reefs in maintaining the ecological balance of coastal environments.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/5-1024x683.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-331363" srcset="https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/5-980x653.webp 980w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/5-480x320.webp 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The programme continued with a hands-on training session on the construction of artificial coral reefs, led by Manager of Biodiversity &amp; Environmental Strategic Development, Syaiful Anwar, together with Damai Mendrofa. During the session, participants gained a deeper understanding of the vital role of coral reefs as habitats for diverse marine life, natural barriers that protect coastlines from erosion, natural water filters, and essential ecosystems that support sustainable fisheries. The session also explored the major threats facing coral reef ecosystems and the various rehabilitation measures available, including the installation of artificial coral reefs and coral transplantation. Following the presentation, participants took part in a practical exercise, constructing artificial coral reef modules under the guidance of the facilitators.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/8-1-1024x683.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-331361" srcset="https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/8-1-1024x683.webp 1024w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/8-1-300x200.webp 300w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/8-1-768x512.webp 768w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/8-1-1536x1024.webp 1536w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/8-1-2048x1365.webp 2048w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/8-1-1080x720.webp 1080w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/8-1-1280x854.webp 1280w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/8-1-980x653.webp 980w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/8-1-480x320.webp 480w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rahman Sibuea, Chair of Kelompok Tani Hutan (KTH) Mandiri Lestari, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration among all parties involved in making the programme a success. He noted that the strong partnership between local communities, community organisations, and the company represents a tangible commitment to conserving mangrove and marine ecosystems while fostering a culture of environmental stewardship across Central Tapanuli Regency.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The event was attended by Head of <a href="https://muarabt.tapselkab.go.id/" data-type="link" data-id="https://muarabt.tapselkab.go.id/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Muara Batang Toru Sub-district</a>, Sonita Wardah Nasution, Manager Community Relations of Agincourt Resources, Masdar Muda, Superintendent Environment Support of Agincourt Resources, Syaiful Anwar, and Chair of the Ovata Indonesia Foundation (LOI), Erwinsyah Siregar.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In his remarks, Chair of LOI, Erwinsyah Siregar, highlighted the importance of cross-sector collaboration in conserving sea turtles and coastal habitats. The provision of conservation facilities is expected to enhance protection efforts, egg incubation, and hatchling release in a more structured and sustainable manner.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Manager Community Relations of Agincourt Resources, Masdar Muda, stated that the company’s support for the development of the sea turtle conservation facility forms part of its social and environmental responsibility. He emphasised that conservation is not merely ceremonial, but a long-term commitment to maintaining ecological balance for future generations.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Meanwhile, Head of Muara Batang Toru Sub-district, Sonita Wardah Nasution, expressed her appreciation for the support and collaboration that had been established. She hoped the facility would serve as a centre for environmental education and a source of pride for the community in safeguarding the coastal environment. The main agenda was marked by the signing of the handover agreement and the ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Muara Opu Sea Turtle Conservation Facility. The programme continued with the release of turtle hatchlings into the sea by the Ovata Indonesia Foundation, symbolising shared hope and commitment to marine ecosystem conservation.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_1006-1024x683.webp" alt="" class="wp-image-320806" srcset="https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_1006-1024x683.webp 1024w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_1006-300x200.webp 300w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_1006-768x512.webp 768w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_1006-1536x1024.webp 1536w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_1006-2048x1365.webp 2048w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_1006-1080x720.webp 1080w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_1006-1280x854.webp 1280w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_1006-980x653.webp 980w, https://agincourtresources.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/IMG_1006-480x320.webp 480w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Through this initiative, Agincourt Resources, together with LOI and the Muara Opu community, reaffirmed their long-term commitment to caring for nature, strengthening collaboration, and preserving coastal life for generations to come.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">On Saturday, July 26, 2025, Agincourt Resources, in collaboration with Yamantab Waste Bank (BSY) and local volunteers, held a cleanup activity in its assisted mangrove conservation area in Aek Garut Village, Pandan Sub-district, Central Tapanuli Regency. The event was part of the 2025 Mangrove Day commemoration, aimed at preserving coastal ecosystems and raising environmental awareness.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Reni Radhan, Public Relations Manager at Agincourt Resources, emphasized that protecting mangrove areas is essential for carbon absorption and climate change mitigation. “This ‘from the heart for the earth’ cleanup is not just about collecting trash, but about restoring the environmental, social, and economic values of mangrove forests,” she stated.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The cleanup was conducted at three key points, including the dock and mangrove nursery, with participants comprising students, environmentalists, Navy personnel, and PLN UP3 Pandan employees. The collected waste included hard plastics (bottles, cups), soft plastics (wrappers, bags), and other debris such as plastic sacks, banners, and mats.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">All waste was sorted and not sent to landfills. Instead, it was washed, dried, and partially processed into ecobricks. Unprocessed waste was transferred to BSY for further management. The event also reinforced eco-conscious behavior by encouraging the use of sustainable utensils, such as banana leaves and reusable tumblers.</p>
