In Wek II Urban Village, the construction of a concrete road has provided a new route around the area while also improving access to the bathing, washing and toilet (MCK) facilities constructed through the 2025 PPM.

The handover of the concrete road construction was held on 29 September 2026 and marked by the signing of the handover document. The event was attended by representatives from Wek II Village, Batang Toru Subdistrict, the Wek II Village Community Empowerment Institution (LPMK), and the road construction committee.

Meanwhile, in Aek Pining Urban, Agincourt Resources renovated the concrete road and constructed a retaining wall along Jalan Alam Agung. The work was carried out to restore community road access, which had previously been damaged by a landslide that caused part of the road to collapse.

The handover of the concrete road renovation and retaining wall construction was held on 28 September 2026. The activity involved representatives of the Aek Pining Urban Village Government and the committee responsible for the renovation of the concrete road and construction of the retaining wall along Jalan Alam Agung.

Through the construction and restoration of road access, Agincourt Resources continues to support better access for communities in Batang Toru. The improvements are expected to support residents’ daily activities and enhance the benefits of facilities developed through the PPM programme.

The training was designed to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and motivation needed to develop the competence to operate equipment safely and professionally, while also creating equal opportunities for women to develop their skills in operational roles. These competencies are expected to serve as valuable foundations for expanding participants’ employment opportunities, both at PT MMS and other companies, in line with the skills they gained during the training.

The programme will run for one and a half months, with PT MMS serving as the training provider and delivering instruction throughout the programme. Before beginning practical training on the equipment, participants will receive foundational training in HSE Induction and Basic Occupational Health and Safety (K3) from the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) team. The next stage will cover familiarisation with the training area and the equipment to be used throughout the learning process.

One of the participants, Juliana Fransiska Rambe from Sipenggeng Village, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to take part in the programme. She said the compactor operator training not only provided new skills and experience, but also served as valuable preparation for increasing her employment prospects. She hopes the competencies she gains will enable her to work as an operator while contributing to her family’s economic wellbeing.

Through this collaboration, Agincourt Resources continues to support the development of community competencies around its operational area. The skills gained are expected to extend beyond the training itself, providing participants with a foundation to take greater steps towards independence and open up new opportunities for the future.

On 24 August 2026, Agincourt Resources supported an activity to strengthen the Tugas Pokok dan Fungsi Kader Posyandu in the implementation of ILP at Puskesmas Batang Toru. The activity aimed to strengthen cadres’ understanding of their duties and roles in implementing ILP through Posyandu, as well as Pemantauan Wilayah Setempat (PWS) at village level.

A total of 74 participants attended the activity, comprising 13 village heads, 13 representatives of village PKK, 18 village midwives, 18 Posyandu cadres and 12 invited guests. The programme featured a presentation on ILP policy by the Health Office, along with a session by Agincourt Resources on cadres’ core duties and responsibilities. During the event, 77 health promotion flipcharts were also handed over for use at Posyandu centres across Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru.

Head of the South Tapanuli Health Office, Sri Khairunnisa, expressed her appreciation to Agincourt Resources for its support for healthcare programmes, particularly the implementation of ILP in Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru. She emphasised that programme implementation would continue to be monitored by the Health Office together with Puskesmas. Support from village governments is also needed to enable cadres to carry out PWS and help map community health conditions in their respective villages.

Through PWS, health cadres are expected to help identify various health issues within the community and report their findings to Puskesmas. The results of this monitoring can then be followed up by the Puskesmas team as part of efforts to provide healthcare services to the community.

Camat Batang Toru, Mara Tinggi, also expressed support for implementation at village level. Each village head will issue an SK for cadres assigned to carry out PWS. Through this monitoring, community health conditions are expected to be mapped more effectively.

Of the 341 scholarship recipients this year, 88 are new awardees and 253 are continuing recipients. Of the new awardees, 37 students—representing 42% of the total—are from the Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru sub-districts.

PT Agincourt Resources’ Authority of the Board of Directors, Rahmat Lubis, stated that the 2026 scholarship program is focused exclusively on senior high school and higher education students. Scholarships for elementary and junior high school students have been suspended as part of the Company’s adjustment to the priorities of its Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM) during the ongoing recovery period.

“Our commitment to supporting the education of South Tapanuli’s younger generation remains unwavering. We have adjusted the scale of the program to ensure its long-term sustainability while prioritizing those who need the support most—namely senior high school students preparing to pursue higher education and university students currently undertaking their tertiary studies,” Rahmat said at the 2026 Martabe Prestasi Scholarship Award Ceremony at Sopo Daganak in Batang Toru, South Tapanuli, on Friday (July 24, 2026).

Since its launch in 2017, the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship Program has benefited 3,037 students, with a total educational investment of IDR 24.11 billion. Over nearly a decade, the program has become one of the most extensive corporate-managed scholarship initiatives in North Sumatra’s mining industry, providing educational support to students from elementary school through to higher education.

In line with this, the Head of the South Tapanuli Education Office, Efrida Yanti Pakpahan, emphasized that Agincourt Resources’ Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM) has consistently delivered significant benefits to local communities, both in the education sector and across a wide range of other development initiatives.

“This scholarship has provided invaluable support to students from low-income families, giving them the opportunity to pursue higher education,” she said.

She also encouraged students not to let financial hardship stand in the way of their aspirations.

“There are many pathways to achieving your dreams, and scholarships are one of them,” Efrida said.

This year, 13 recipients of the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship have demonstrated the program’s impact by securing admission to leading public universities on Java. Six recipients were admitted to the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), three to Universitas Gadjah Mada, and one each to Diponegoro University, Airlangga University, Brawijaya University, and Sebelas Maret University.

One of them is Sahrial Azhari Gultom, a resident of Wek III Village – one of the communities surrounding the Martabe Gold Mine – who was successfully admitted to the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB).

“I will make the most of this scholarship. Beyond helping to cover my educational expenses, it also motivates me to keep striving for excellence and to further develop my potential,” he said.

The impact of the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship extends well beyond students’ years at university. Rona Melati Pakpahan, a recipient from the program’s inaugural 2017 cohort, is now employed by a logistics company in Medan after completing her Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Economics at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UIN Sumatera Utara Medan).  “Thanks to the education I was able to pursue with the support of this scholarship, I have secured a career that aligns with my passion, achieved financial independence, and am now able to support my family,” Rona said.

The MCK facility was built to provide proper sanitation and ablution facilities for the Subululubidya Mosque. Previously, the mosque’s toilets were no longer considered fit for use as they lacked a septic tank, causing wastewater to flow directly into a nearby drainage channel. The existing structure had also deteriorated, while the available clean water source had begun to show signs of contamination. Limited financial resources within the mosque’s management had further delayed the construction work.

Although the project was disrupted by the flash floods of 25 November 2025, construction was eventually completed through the collaboration of all parties involved. In addition to the new MCK facility, the mosque’s ablution area was renovated to provide a safer and more comfortable environment for worshippers.

The Government and residents of Huta Godang Village expressed their appreciation for the support provided. The improved sanitation facilities are expected to enhance comfort for worshippers, promote better public health and contribute to the village’s ongoing post-disaster recovery efforts.

In Indonesia, the implementation of Good Mining Practice is not merely an operational standard, but a mandatory requirement regulated under Law Number 3 of 2020 and further strengthened through Ministerial Decree of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Number 1827 K/30/MEM/2018 as a technical guideline for conducting responsible mining activities.

In practice, Good Mining Practice begins at the mine planning stage. Companies cannot focus solely on extracting high-grade ore or cherry picking, but must ensure that mining plans are developed comprehensively, covering exploration, operations, and mine closure while referring to valid data and applicable technical standards.

Safety remains one of the highest priorities in the implementation of GMP. All operational activities must be supported by the implementation of the Mining Safety Management System (SMKP), effective risk control measures, and ensuring that every worker possesses competencies aligned with their respective roles and responsibilities.

From an environmental perspective, GMP ensures that mined-out areas are not simply left unmanaged until the end of mine life. Top soil separated during the early stages of operations is carefully stored to preserve its quality, before being reused during reclamation and revegetation processes so that land can be progressively restored. The management of acid mine drainage and tailings is also carried out through systems and technologies specifically designed to minimise potential impacts on the surrounding environment.

Beyond technical and environmental aspects, Good Mining Practice also places communities as an essential part of sustainable operations. Through Community Development and Empowerment Programmes mining companies must ensure their presence creates sustainable economic benefits, ranging from prioritising local employment opportunities, empowering local SMEs and vendors, to developing infrastructure that meets community needs. This approach forms an important part of maintaining the social licence to operate, or public trust towards company operations.

Although the implementation of GMP faces various challenges, including investment in environmentally friendly technology, complex geographical conditions, and pressure to meet production targets, these principles remain a critical foundation in ensuring mining operations are carried out responsibly and sustainably.

Through the consistent implementation of Good Mining Practice, the mining industry continues to demonstrate that responsible operations do not simply generate economic value, but also leave behind well-managed environments, stronger and more independent communities, and sustainable benefits for future generations.
