Leading the Transformation Towards Eco-Friendly Mining with Technological Innovation

Jul 13, 2024

Amidst the growing concerns about environmental issues and climate change, Agincourt Resources has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to achieving sustainable environmental management. The Green Team, a team formed by the Environment Department, has successfully the title of the 1st Winner in the Quality Control Circle Non Technical (QCCNT) category with the innovation title “Enhancing Compliance with Beyond Compliance Criteria for Sustainable Business”. This innovation showcases various programs integrated with the latest technology.

One of the main focuses is on improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions. This is realized through the installation of slip energy recovery, 2.1 Megawatt peak (MWp) Solar Photovoltaic (PV) with a helioscope system, and a gravity-based water flow system for filling water trucks. These efforts have proven effective in saving energy up to 193,595 Gigajoules per year.

The Green Team doesn’t stop there. They have also installed capacitor banks, Static VAR Compensators, and solar-powered water pumps for agricultural irrigation. This innovation has resulted in a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, reaching 58,780 tons CO2e per year. On the other hand, the team is also focused on reducing mining waste. They have installed a Waste Oil Processing Plant (WOPP) for blasting activities, replaced Tubular Lamps (TL) with energy-efficient Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps, and used intermediate bulk container (IBC) tanks to replace B3 hazardous waste packaging. These efforts have proven effective in reducing B3 waste by 2,198 tons per year.

Furthermore, the team has built a Waste Sortation Facility (WSF) to manage non-B3 solid waste. They have implemented a circular economy for plastic waste and have conducted training and utilization of used pallet waste in collaboration with the Koperasi Imaji Cerdas Berkarya (ICB). These innovations have contributed to a reduction in non-B3 waste by 126.83 tons per year.

Agincourt Resources is not only focused on efficiency and emission reduction but is also committed to water conservation and biodiversity. This is evidenced by various innovative efforts, such as utilizing process water from the Tailing Storage Facility (TSF) and Water Polishing Plant (WPP) for the production process, and building a ReCyn Plant. These efforts have proven effective in reducing surface water usage by 6,356,513 m³ per year, equivalent to conserving water resources for the needs of the community in the future.

On the other hand, Agincourt Resources has also demonstrated its commitment to biodiversity conservation. The efforts include enriching copper meranti in original forests to maintain flora conservation, revitalizing rivers through the lubuk larangan in Garoga Village to maintain aquatic fauna habitat, and implementing a Macaca sp. conservation program.  With the various initiatives undertaken, Agincourt Resources reaffirms its commitment to maintaining sustainable environmental conservation. Through innovation and real action, the Company continues to strive to achieve higher sustainability standards, ensuring that mining operations are also environmentally friendly.
