Batang Toru, July 25, 2026 – PT Agincourt Resources has once again awarded the 2026 Martabe Prestasi Scholarship to 341 students from South Tapanuli. Amid the ongoing recovery process at the Martabe Gold Mine, the Company has allocated IDR 5.29 billion to ensure its commitment to supporting education continues uninterrupted.
Of the 341 scholarship recipients this year, 88 are new awardees and 253 are continuing recipients. Of the new awardees, 37 students—representing 42% of the total—are from the Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru sub-districts.
PT Agincourt Resources’ Authority of the Board of Directors, Rahmat Lubis, stated that the 2026 scholarship program is focused exclusively on senior high school and higher education students. Scholarships for elementary and junior high school students have been suspended as part of the Company’s adjustment to the priorities of its Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM) during the ongoing recovery period.
“Our commitment to supporting the education of South Tapanuli’s younger generation remains unwavering. We have adjusted the scale of the program to ensure its long-term sustainability while prioritizing those who need the support most—namely senior high school students preparing to pursue higher education and university students currently undertaking their tertiary studies,” Rahmat said at the 2026 Martabe Prestasi Scholarship Award Ceremony at Sopo Daganak in Batang Toru, South Tapanuli, on Friday (July 24, 2026).
Since its launch in 2017, the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship Program has benefited 3,037 students, with a total educational investment of IDR 24.11 billion. Over nearly a decade, the program has become one of the most extensive corporate-managed scholarship initiatives in North Sumatra’s mining industry, providing educational support to students from elementary school through to higher education.
In line with this, the Head of the South Tapanuli Education Office, Efrida Yanti Pakpahan, emphasized that Agincourt Resources’ Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM) has consistently delivered significant benefits to local communities, both in the education sector and across a wide range of other development initiatives.
“This scholarship has provided invaluable support to students from low-income families, giving them the opportunity to pursue higher education,” she said.
She also encouraged students not to let financial hardship stand in the way of their aspirations.
“There are many pathways to achieving your dreams, and scholarships are one of them,” Efrida said.
This year, 13 recipients of the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship have demonstrated the program’s impact by securing admission to leading public universities on Java. Six recipients were admitted to the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB), three to Universitas Gadjah Mada, and one each to Diponegoro University, Airlangga University, Brawijaya University, and Sebelas Maret University.
One of them is Sahrial Azhari Gultom, a resident of Wek III Village – one of the communities surrounding the Martabe Gold Mine – who was successfully admitted to the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB).
“I will make the most of this scholarship. Beyond helping to cover my educational expenses, it also motivates me to keep striving for excellence and to further develop my potential,” he said.
The impact of the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship extends well beyond students’ years at university. Rona Melati Pakpahan, a recipient from the program’s inaugural 2017 cohort, is now employed by a logistics company in Medan after completing her Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Economics at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UIN Sumatera Utara Medan). “Thanks to the education I was able to pursue with the support of this scholarship, I have secured a career that aligns with my passion, achieved financial independence, and am now able to support my family,” Rona said.
