The Adiwiyata Program’s Excellence: SMP Negeri 1 Batang Toru Wins “Waste-Wise School” Award at the 2025 Astra Festival

SMP Negeri 1 Batang Toru, a partner school under Agincourt Resources’ Adiwiyata programme, has won the Best Participant in Waste-Wise School award from the Indonesian Adiwiyata Network for the junior high school category at Festival Astra 2025. The event took place on Friday, 8 August 2025, at Menara Astra, Central Jakarta, as part of the Astra CSR Innovation Competition, which focuses on four pillars: Astra Healthy, Astra Smart, Astra Creative, and Astra Green.

The award was given to the best-performing schools among 94 schools supported by the Astra Group that participated in the Waste-Wise School category. SMP Negeri 1 Batang Toru was represented by Teacher Adi Zulkarnaen, who also won the Best Traditional Costume of South Tapanuli award, showcasing local culture. From Agincourt Resources, Senior Officer for Education Nurhijriyah Siregar attended to demonstrate the company’s support for education and environmental awareness.
