To improve the capacity of doctors in South Tapanuli, PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR) through the Community Development Department facilitated the implementation of Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) training on Friday to Saturday, 2–3 December 2022 at the Mutiara Padangsidimpuan Hotel. This training presented instructors from the Indonesian Association of Cardiovascular Specialists (PERKI).
The training, which was attended by at least 33 doctors on duty at several health centers, hospitals and the South Tapanuli Health Service, was officially opened by the Head of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) South Tapanuli dr. Hj. Sri Khairunnisa, MH, MKM. PTAR Community Development Manager Rohani Simbolon in his speech hoped that the training could improve the abilities and knowledge of the attending doctors so that they could work optimally, both at the health center or hospital, and the results could be felt by the community holistically.
On the first day, participants were given exposure to BHD (basic life support) skills, defibrillation skills (the procedure of passing an electric current to a patient to evaluate heart function), and electrocardiogram or ECG skills (a common diagnostic test to evaluate heart function). Meanwhile, on the second day, a Megacode simulation was carried out followed by alternate practice exams. All participants passed with good grades according to the ACLS passing standards.
The ACLS training is also one of a series of activities organized by PTAR to support the 72nd Anniversary of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) and the 58th National Health Day (HKN). In addition to the ACLS training, a health seminar was also held for 50 health workers from all puskesmas in South Tapanuli on December 5 2022, and the holding of the 58th HKN celebration at Sipente Field, Batangtoru on December 7 2022.
