This position will be based at the Martabe Gold Mine Site within the Processing (Metallurgy) Department, with direct reporting to the Superintendent – Metallurgy Operations.
The Senior Metallurgist will be tasked with:
- Monitoring and reporting on plant performance: Ensuring all processes and equipment operate at optimal efficiency, identifying and addressing any performance issues.
- Providing technical and operational guidance: Contributing expertise to enhance process efficiency, recommending improvements, and supporting continuous optimization efforts.
- Supervising plant metallurgists and laboratory test work: Leading and mentoring metallurgists while overseeing laboratory testing to ensure accuracy, reliability, and effectiveness in metallurgical evaluations.
Applicants for this position are required to fulfill the following qualifications and criteria:
- Educational Background: Possess a tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or Chemical Engineering.
- Relevant Experience: Demonstrated experience in Carbon in Leach (CIL) and Semi-Autogenous Grinding (SAG) milling.
- Gold Processing Expertise: A minimum of five years of experience in a metallurgical role within gold processing.
- Licenses and Certifications: Hold a valid driver’s license and, if possible, a Personal Occupational Proficiency (POP) certification.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of metallurgical processing methods, tools, raw materials, and technologies.
- Safety Awareness: Comprehensive knowledge of occupational hazards in the mineral processing industry.
- Instructional Comprehension: Ability to interpret and effectively execute written and verbal instructions, including engineering drawings.
