This position will be situated at the Martabe Site within the Processing (Metallurgy) Department and will directly report to the Superintendent – Metallurgy Operations.
The Senior Metallurgist will be tasked with:
- Monitoring and reporting on all aspects of plant performance: Ensuring that all processes and machinery are functioning optimally and efficiently.
- Providing technical and operational input as directed to optimize process efficiency: Offering insights and recommendations to enhance the performance and efficiency of metallurgical processes.
- Supervising plant metallurgists and overseeing laboratory test works: Leading and guiding plant metallurgists in their daily tasks and ensuring that laboratory tests are conducted accurately and effectively.
Applicants for this position are expected to possess the following qualifications and meet specific criteria:
- Educational Background: Hold tertiary qualifications in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing, or Chemical Engineering.
- Specific Experience: Have experience in CIL (Carbon in Leach) and SAG (Semi-Autogenous Grinding) milling.
- Professional Experience: Accumulate a minimum of 5 years of experience in a production metallurgical role within the resource sector.
- Gold Processing Experience: Possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in CIL/CIP (Carbon in Pulp) gold processing.
- Licenses and Certifications: Hold a valid driver’s license and be POP (Personal Occupational Proficiency) certified, if possible.
- Technical Knowledge: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of methods, tools, raw materials, and technologies utilized in metallurgical processing.
- Safety Knowledge: Exhibit thorough knowledge of occupational hazards within the mineral processing industry.
- Instructional Comprehension: Display the ability to comprehend and efficiently execute written and oral instructions, including the interpretation of engineering drawings.
- Adaptability and Self-Development: Showcase adaptability to the work culture and a commitment to self-development.
