SENIOR SUPERVISOR – PROJECT EXECUTION (MPDSE 2605002)

This position will be based at the Martabe Gold Mine Site within the MPDSE Department, with direct reporting to the Superintendent – Project Execution.

The role of the Senior Supervisor – Project Execution is responsible for ensuring that short- to medium-term TMF construction targets are achieved efficiently in terms of cost, scheduling, and execution, in close coordination with the Operations team.

The role includes coordinating with the Mining Operations team on strategic planning related to future placement stages and access development from various waste sources, as well as communicating plans and progress updates to Senior Management.

The incumbent is expected to ensure strong technical discipline in managing risks to an acceptable level and to work collaboratively with the Project Execution and Mining Operations teams to deliver optimal tailings handling and civil earthworks project management. Strong collaboration with the Mining, Processing, Mine Geology, and Resource Development departments is essential to support operational integration and project delivery. This role will also act as the Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer (RTFE), as defined under the Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM), in the absence of the Senior Manager on site.

Candidates for this position are expected to meet the following qualifications and criteria:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree (S1) or Diploma 3 (D3) in Civil Engineering or other relevant disciplines related to the required work experience.
  2. Preferably possess qualifications in geotechnical and hydrological engineering, membership in a recognised Civil Engineers Association, and POP/POM certification.
  3. Minimum 10 years of experience for D3 graduates or 7 years for S1 graduates in managing earthworks contractors, mining contractors, and technical service providers related to dam construction and monitoring.
  4. Able to prepare long-term work plans and equipment scheduling and translate them into short-term (daily and weekly) execution plans through effective earthworks sequencing.
  5. Able to apply cost control principles to optimise work quality within the approved budget.
  6. Able to supervise, control, and evaluate work plans against actual execution by contractors.
  7. Preferably experienced in civil construction, hydrology, and geotechnical engineering, particularly in tailings facility operations. Candidates should be capable of conducting soil inspections (field and laboratory) and interpreting geotechnical instrumentation data.
  8. Possess strong communication and people management skills, demonstrate proactive safety behaviour, and communicate effectively with superiors, peers, and subordinates. Candidates should also have strong functional and strategic capabilities to achieve targets while maintaining high-quality standards.
