Organic rice in the Aek Pahu rice field area is a superior commodity in South Tapanuli Regency, which until now is still the only organic rice product produced in this region. To be able to compete with other organic rice products in regional and national markets, Aek Pahu’s organic rice products must also be equipped with organic and halal certificates.
Therefore, on 24 – 25 November 2022, PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR) through the Community Development Department carried out a re-certification of organic rice products from 16 of the 16 organic farmers it assisted. Re-certification was carried out by the Seloliman Organic Certification Institute (LeSOS) by inspecting organic farming land located in the Aek Pahu rice fields, Napa Village, Batangtoru District, to determine the level of soil fertility with an organic cultivation pattern and ensure that fertilization and weed removal do not use organic fertilizers. chemical. In addition, LeSOS also verifies and examines rice field documents at the points of proof of organic land areas.
In 2019, Aek Pahu’s organic rice has received organic certification from LeSOS. Then, in 2020 Aek Pahu organic rice will also receive a halal certificate from LPPOM MUI. However, organic certificates are only valid for three years, although every year supervision is carried out to review the implementation of the organic farming system, so a re-certification is necessary.
