To foster competitiveness in the field of welding and improve the skills of human resources, PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR) partnered with the South Tapanuli Manpower Agency, collaborating with the Service Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of the Vocational Training Center, to organize Competency-Based SMAW (Shield Metal Arc Welding) 3G Plate Welder Training.
This training, conducted at the workshop of one of PTAR’s contractors in Batuhula Village, saw the participation of 20 residents representing 15 villages around the mine in Batangtoru and Muara Batangoru Sub-Districts. The comprehensive training program will span 30 days, running from August 1 to September 5, 2023. Upon completion, a competency exam will be conducted on September 6-7, 2023.
PTAR’s Community Senior Manager, Christine Pepah, emphasized that the community’s welding capabilities, certified to meet competent standards, are currently limited. This training aims to create employment opportunities and reduce unemployment by producing skilled local welders who can compete in the job market, both within PTAR and other companies. The training adheres to the standards set by the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Regulation No. 02/Men/1982 concerning the Qualifications of Welders in the Workplace.
