On Friday, August 11, 2023, PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR) conducted the presentation ceremony for the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship awarding at Sopo Daganak. A total of 379 students from South Tapanuli were awarded the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship, with 283 new recipients and 96 continuing beneficiaries. This year, PTAR disbursed a total of IDR 2.94 billion, marking a significant increase compared to the previous year.
The Martabe Prestasi Scholarship is a part of the Community Development and Empowerment (PPM) program focused on education. It offers educational support to exceptional students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Since its inception in 2017, this program has extended its benefits to 1,634 students and university attendees, with a cumulative allocation of IDR8.4 billion.
In his address, Rahmat Lubis, the General Manager of PTAR Operations, conveyed his gratitude to all exceptional students who have persevered to attain the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship. “As the operator of the Martabe Gold Mine operating in Batangtoru Sub-District, PTAR places high importance on education as a cornerstone of community development and empowerment. We aim to contribute towards ensuring that the upcoming generation accesses higher education without apprehensions about economic constraints. PTAR’s Senior Manager Community, Christine Pepah, provided a comprehensive breakdown of this year’s Martabe Prestasi Scholarship awards. The awards encompass various categories, including the Academic Achievement Award (PPA) for Elementary School (SD) level, benefiting 100 students, and the Junior High School (SMP) level, benefiting 55 students. The regular Continuous Achievement Award (PPB) category caters to high school level (SMA)/equivalent, supporting 30 students, and a Special PPB category is dedicated to 10 students at the superior high school level. In the PPB category for D3 and S1 levels, 15 students from local state and private universities within the South Tapanuli region (Tabagsel) were recognized, alongside 50 students from national State Universities (PTN) beyond the Tabagsel area. Moreover, the program extended to 20 students receiving scholarships under the S1 PPB category at prominent national-scale PTNs, while 3 students secured scholarships for the Special PPB category at Astra Polytechnic.
“At its inception, this initiative was limited to Batangtoru and Muara Batangtoru Sub-Districts. However, driven by a transformative spirit, the coverage has expanded since 2022. High school and tertiary level beneficiaries now include South Tapanuli Regency, and this year’s enhancements encompass the Special PPB category at Superior State Universities nationwide, encompassing the City of Padangsidimpuan as well.”
