Encouraging Sports Development in the Operational Area, Athletes assisted by PT Agincourt Resources enliven the 2023 Tobamar Festival

Batangtoru, 24 September 2023 – PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR), the operator of Martabe Gold Mine, participated in the 2023 Toba Kaldera Marathon (Tobamar) Festival, in Balige, North Sumatra, Sunday (24/9).This prestigious activity was attended by 1,300 participants from many regions in Indonesia. Apart from providing support of IDR 100 million as one of the main sponsors, PTAR also sent 10 PTAR-assisted athletes and 6 company representatives to participate in enlivening the activity initiated by Toba Regency Government, ITB Alumni Association, Del Alumni Association, and the Soposurung Foundation Alumni.

According to PTAR Community Senior Manager, Christine Pepah, the participation of PTAR-assisted athletes in this event is one of the Company’sefforts to develop the sports sector in Martabe Gold Mine operational area, especially in the field of marathon. Apart from providing assistance in the form of equipment and training, PTAR also regularly sends trained athletes to national and international running events.

“We have been developing Jaya Batangtoru Athletic Club since 2018. We see that they have high potential in the world of marathons. So far, we have sent them several times to prestigious marathon events, such as Mandiri Jogja Marathon and Sibayak Altitude Run. In these events, they won several times,” said Christine.

PTAR Community Relations Manager, Masdar Muda added, it is hoped that the assistance and development supported by PTAR can awaken the potential of potential athletes around the operational area, especially in the field of marathon.

“We believe that young people around PTAR operational area have extraordinary potential, which if developed well will provide great benefits, not only for themselves, but also for the surrounding environment,” he said.

In this activity, Jaya Batangtoru Athletic Club athletes succeeded in winning 2nd place for the 10K route in the women’s general category and 3rd place for the 21K route in the men’s general category.

Negro Pelita Nasution, coach of Jaya Batangtoru Athletic Club, admitted that his club was greatly helped by the assistance and development provided by PTAR. He believes that the existence of his club, which has 30 members, has also increased the interest and enthusiasm of young people in Batangtoru and its surroundings in athletic sports.

“This cannot be separated from PTAR support for our club. Thank you PTAR for the commitment to supporting the development of the sports sector,” he said.

Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, in his speech said that the 2023 Tobamar Kaldera Festival was also held to promote Lake Toba area as one of the Super Priority-Tourism Destinations (DPSP) in Indonesia.

“This festival will be included in an annual routine agenda, the technical implementation will continue to be improved. I am happy to see today’s participants coming from various regions in Indonesia. Hopefully in the future, more people will visit Lake Toba,” said Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

In line with this, PTAR Corporate Communications Senior Manager, Katarina Siburian Hardono said, PTAR’s participation in the 2023 Tobamar Kaldera Festival is a contribution and a form of PTAR’s commitment to supporting the development of the tourism sector in North Sumatra, especially around Lake Toba.

“Lake Toba is a very valuable asset owned by North Sumatra, and of course we continue to support the government’s efforts to promote thetourism aspect in this region. Apart from Tobamar, we also participated in the W20 Summit last year and the F1 Powerboat event which was held on Lake Toba at the beginning of the year.We also participated in preserving thebiodiversity aspect in Lake Toba during the Environment Day event last June,” she concluded.
