Bengkel Sampah (Waste Workshop) organized an Eco Camp event on Saturday to Sunday, February 24-25, 2024, aiming to reduce waste production in commemoration of National Waste Care Day 2024 at Muara Opu Beach, Muara Batangtoru Sub-District. Supported by Agincourt Resources and the South Tapanuli Environmental Agency, the event drew hundreds of volunteers and environmentalists. In addition to the Eco Camp activities, the event concluded with the release of hatchlings (baby turtles) into the Indian Ocean.
Nazamuddin Siregar, founder of Bengkel Sampah, expressed hope that this initiative would inspire the community to continue caring for and preserving nature. “Through this activity, we aim to highlight the importance of waste management to prevent environmental disasters. We also aspire for Muara Opu Beach to become a clean and sustainable tourist destination.”
Senior Manager of Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) at Agincourt Resources, Hari Ananto, reiterated the company’s dedication to supporting sustainable environments. Operating in Batangtoru, Agincourt Resources implements various programs and partnerships to preserve biodiversity, including direct involvement in turtle conservation at Muara Opu Beach.
