From Wednesday to Monday, October 30 to November 4, 2024, Agincourt Resources conducted a comparative study program themed “Building Creativity Towards Independence” involving 25 participants from Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru Sub-districts. The program took place in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and involved managers from 14 Children’s Reading Gardens (TBAs) and members of the Sopo Daganak Art Studio. The primary objective of this comparative study was to enhance the capacity and independence of human resources managing Children’s Reading Gardens and the Sopo Daganak Art Studio.

The event was attended by 22 participants, accompanied by Senior Officer Education of Agincourt Resources, Nurhijriyah Siregar, Supervisor of Community Health of Agincourt Resources, Missy Lubis, and Supervisor of Community Relations of Agincourt Resources, Suprianto, as well as managers of 14 TBAs and five trainers from the Sopo Daganak Art Studio.

The comparative study was conducted at seven locations in Yogyakarta, comprising several reading gardens and art studios, namely TBM (Community Reading Garden) Nyala Litera, TBM Wijaya Kusuma, TBM Mata Aksara, TBM Pustaka Adil, Sanggar Kancil Studio Art, Sanggar Mila Art, and Sanggar Sekar Kinanti.

This program was designed to provide in-depth insights into the management of reading gardens and art studios, covering aspects such as management, digital promotion, and collaboration with other institutions. Participants also learned skills that could be applied to TBAs and art studios in their respective regions. Some of the skills acquired at the reading gardens included storytelling techniques, crafting from recycled materials, tote bag business, and the utilization of mobile libraries for literacy. Meanwhile, at the art studios, participants were encouraged to improve activity documentation, develop their best works, and strengthen studio management as well as training for trainers.
