Agincourt Resources successfully organized the Waste-Friendly School Competition, involving 10 of its fostered schools. This initiative was part of efforts to raise awareness among young generations about the importance of proper waste management. After field verification conducted on December 4–5, 2024, a panel of judges—comprising representatives from Agincourt Resources, the South Tapanuli Regency Environmental Office (DLHD), and the Semut Merah Environmental Education Foundation (YPL)—announced the winners during a celebratory event at SMP Negeri 1 Batang Toru on December 6, 2024.
The competition was divided into three categories based on the schools’ Adiwiyata achievement levels:
- National-Level Adiwiyata School Category: Winner – SMP Negeri 1 Batang Toru
- Provincial-Level Adiwiyata School Category: Winner – SMP Negeri 2 Batang Toru
- Regency-Level Adiwiyata School Category: Winner – SDN 100715 Telo
“We deeply appreciate the enthusiasm and commitment of the students, teachers, and the entire school community who participated in this competition. Through this event, we hope to inspire more schools to adopt sustainable waste management programs,” said Rohani Simbolon, Manager of Community Development at Agincourt Resources.
In addition to the three main winners, seven other schools received cash prizes. These funds are intended to support various waste management activities in the schools, such as procuring waste bins, building composters, or conducting environmental education programs.
