Jul 27, 2025

As part of the 13th anniversary of the first gold pour at the Martabe Gold Mine, Agincourt Resources once again held Martabe Run 2025 on Sunday, 27 July 2025, in Batang Toru, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatera. The event brought together around 3,000 participants from across the region, including South Tapanuli Regency and Padangsidimpuan City. In addition to being a celebratory event, Martabe Run aims to promote a healthy lifestyle, raise public awareness of the importance of physical activity, and support the regeneration of local athletes in the surrounding mining communities.

Martabe Run 2025 featured three race categories: 2.5K, 5K, and 10K. Participants came from diverse backgrounds, students, local residents, sports communities, Agincourt Resources employees, and partner companies. This year’s run marked the official comeback of the annual event, which had been paused during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Rahmat Lubis, General Manager Operations & Deputy Director Operations of Agincourt Resources, stated that Martabe Run is a tangible form of the company’s commitment to creating a positive, inclusive, and sustainable impact through community-focused initiatives. “This event is part of a meaningful milestone, commemorating 13 years since our first gold pour. We want to celebrate it through an activity that is healthy, joyful, and inclusive for everyone,” he said.

Since its first gold pour on 24 July 2012, Agincourt Resources has played a strategic role, not only as a valuable mineral producer but also as a key driver of local economic growth, a pioneer of mining innovation, and a steward of biodiversity conservation in the Batang Toru area. “Our commitment to sustainable mining also extends into sports development, offering space for young generations to grow into future champions,” He said.

Youth and sports development is one of the key pillars of Agincourt Resources’ Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM), alongside education, healthcare, infrastructure, socio-cultural initiatives, and local economic empowerment. This commitment is reflected in initiatives such as the development of Club Jaya Atletik Batang Toru, which has produced promising athletes who have brought pride to the region in various regional and national competitions.

One such athlete is Jupiter Andika Putra, a trail runner who won the gold medal in the Junior Classic 12K category at the 2024 PON XXI (National Sports Week) in Aceh–North Sumatra. In addition to athletics, Agincourt Resources also supports young talents in football and martial arts.

Appreciation for Martabe Run 2025 was expressed by South Tapanuli Regent, Gus Irawan Pasaribu, who attended the event in person. “Every month, Agincourt Resources visits the villages to provide free healthcare services. That is an extraordinary act of care. Martabe Run is also a crucial initiative to promote a healthy lifestyle, especially among the youth,” he said.

A proud achievement was also made by Victorius Mendrofa, a young runner from Wek 3 Village, Batang Toru, who claimed first place in the 10K category with a record time of 35 minutes 25 seconds. Victorius had previously achieved a similar feat at the 2025 Jogja Marathon. “Thank you to Agincourt Resources for organizing Martabe Run. It was an exciting and energizing event. I’m also grateful for the ongoing support and training, which have allowed me to grow and succeed in major competitions,” he shared.
