Learning Together, Delivering Better Services: Peer Learning on ILP Strengthens the Integration of Primary Health Services

Feb 23, 2026

Strengthening primary healthcare services is an important step in improving the quality of health services for communities. Through the Community Empowerment Programme (PPM), Agincourt Resources supported an online peer learning activity on the implementation of Integrated Primary Healthcare Services (ILP) for community health centres (puskesmas) and auxiliary health centres (puskesmas pembantu) in South Tapanuli Regency, particularly in the company’s assisted areas in Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru Sub-districts.

The activities, held on 5th February and 23rd February 2026, were attended by an average of around 85 participants, consisting of healthcare workers, village midwives, posyandu (integrated health post) cadres, and representatives from 16 community health centres across South Tapanuli Regency. The peer learning sessions also involved Puskesmas I of the North Denpasar District Health Office as a reference for best practices in implementing Integrated Primary Healthcare Services.

Also present at the event were Rohani Simbolon, Manager of Community Development at Agincourt Resources, together with the Community Development team of Agincourt Resources, and Suryadi, Secretary of the Regional Health Office of South Tapanuli Regency. The activity aimed to accelerate the adoption of best practices in organising life-cycle-based healthcare services more efficiently at community health centres, particularly Batang Toru Community Health Centre and Hutaraja Community Health Centre.

In his remarks, Suryadi, Secretary of the Regional Health Office of South Tapanuli Regency, expressed appreciation for the company’s support in strengthening the regional health sector. He emphasised that such support presents an important opportunity to enhance human resource capacity while improving the quality of health services for the community.

Meanwhile, Rohani Simbolon, Manager of Community Development at Agincourt Resources, highlighted that every programme implemented should deliver tangible and measurable benefits for the community.

Through this peer learning activity, participants gained insights into optimising life-cycle-based posyandu services, strengthening the capacity of healthcare workers and cadres through training, and strategies to increase community participation in health services.

This initiative forms part of a collective effort to strengthen a more integrated, adaptive, and sustainable primary healthcare system for communities in South Tapanuli Regency, particularly in the operational area of the Martabe Gold Mine.
