Awareness of the dangers of fire and how to prevent it needs to be instilled from an early age, particularly among the younger generation. To enhance this understanding, Agincourt Resources, through its Martabe Goes to School programme, organised an educational activity on fire prevention and control for students of SMA Negeri 1 Batang Toru (Batang Toru State Senior High School). The activity took place on Thursday, 12th March 2026, in the school hall and was attended by 147 students and 15 teachers, bringing the total number of participants to 162.

During the session, Superintendent of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), Sofyan Ali, together with ERT member II Habib Chisty Harahap, delivered a presentation on the fundamentals of fire. The material covered the elements of the fire triangle, the difference between fire and fire incidents, and preventive measures that can be taken when there is a potential risk of fire. The explanation aimed to help students understand how fires can occur and how the associated risks can be reduced.
In addition to providing basic knowledge, the activity also encouraged students to be more aware of safety in their surroundings, both at home and at school. With a better understanding of the causes of fire and how to prevent it, students are expected to become more vigilant and to recognise the initial steps that can be taken when facing an emergency situation.
This educational activity forms part of Agincourt Resources’ efforts to support the improvement of safety awareness within the community, particularly among the younger generation living around the operational area of the Martabe Gold Mine. Through the Martabe Goes to School programme, the Company hopes that the knowledge shared will provide tangible benefits and help build a culture of safety from an early age.
The Principal of SMAN 1 Batang Toru, Khairani Harahap, expressed her gratitude to Agincourt Resources for implementing the Community Development and Empowerment Programme, particularly in the field of education, at SMAN 1 Batang Toru. To date, the school has received various forms of support, both physical and non-physical. She expressed hope that the programme will continue to be carried out smoothly, enabling more members of the community to benefit from it.
