Learning to Plan for the Future from an Early Age: GENRE Goes to School at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nahdlatul Ulama

May 9, 2026

As part of its commitment to nurturing a healthy, intelligent, and competitive younger generation, Agincourt Resources, through its Community Development and Empowerment (PPM) programme, once again supported the implementation of the Generasi Berencana (GENRE) Goes to School initiative at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Nahdlatul Ulama (MTs NU) Napa, Batang Toru Sub-district, on 9 May 2026.

The programme was carried out through collaboration between the South Tapanuli GENRE Forum, the Population Control and Family Planning Office (PPKB) of South Tapanuli Regency, and Family Planning Field Officers (PLKB) of Batang Toru Sub-district.

Through this educational initiative, adolescents were encouraged to understand the importance of planning their future from an early age, maintaining reproductive health, and avoiding risky behaviours such as early marriage, substance abuse involving narcotics, psychotropic substances and other addictive substances (NAPZA), as well as promiscuous behaviour.

A total of 112 participants attended the session, comprising students, teachers, the school principal, representatives from the South Tapanuli PPKB Office, the South Tapanuli GENRE Forum, and Agincourt Resources.

In her remarks, Senior Supervisor of Community Services at Agincourt Resources, Nurhanifah Pulungan, stated that the company’s support for GENRE forms part of its commitment through the Community Development and Empowerment programme, particularly in promoting adolescent health and shaping a high-quality younger generation. “The hope is that young people will grow into the Golden Generation with higher education, healthy lifestyles, competitive careers, and the ability to plan their family life responsibly,” she said.

The Head of MTs NU Batang Toru, Mukhlisuddin Harahap, expressed appreciation to all parties involved in providing education to the students. He hopes the participants will become role models for other young people in spreading positive messages on reproductive health and the importance of delaying marriage until a mature age. Through GENRE Goes to School, efforts to strengthen adolescents’ awareness in planning their future responsibly continue to be reinforced, enabling them to move forward with greater direction and purpose.
