Waste Sortation Facility, a Centre for Domestic Waste Segregation
One of the facilities supporting domestic waste management at the Martabe Gold Mine is the Waste Sortation Facility (WSF). This facility serves as a centre for sorting waste based on its type, including organic waste, recyclable materials, and residual waste requiring further handling.
Through this segregation process, previously mixed waste can be managed according to its characteristics. Materials that still have value can be recovered and reused, while organic waste is processed into products with added value. The implementation of this waste segregation system is also supported by employee awareness in disposing of waste according to the designated categories. Turning Organic Waste into Compost
In addition to waste segregation, Agincourt Resources also processes organic waste, particularly food waste such as fruit and vegetable scraps, into compost. Through the composting process, organic waste undergoes natural decomposition to produce compost that can be reused.
The utilisation of organic waste into compost provides environmental benefits by reducing the volume of waste sent to final disposal facilities. The compost produced is also used to support greening activities and environmental maintenance around the Martabe Gold Mine operational areas.
