Safeguarding water quality is part of an ongoing effort to ensure that operational activities remain aligned with environmental stewardship. For this reason, every stage of process water management at the Martabe Gold Mine is carried out in a measured manner, supported by monitoring and testing to provide a comprehensive picture of water conditions. This commitment was reaffirmed through water sampling at five monitoring points on 13 August 2026.
The five monitoring points provide an overview of water conditions at different stages, ranging from the final settling pond and the outlet prior to discharge, to the discharge point into the Batang Toru River. Monitoring is also conducted upstream and downstream of the river to assess water conditions around the discharge area.
The activity involved an Integrated Team comprising representatives from the local government, academia and the community. The involvement of these various stakeholders strengthens the monitoring process while providing an opportunity for stakeholders to directly observe how water quality is monitored at each point.
Samples collected from each location were subsequently analysed by an independent laboratory. The test results provide objective and measurable data on water quality, while also supporting the provision of reliable and accountable environmental information.
Before being discharged into the Batang Toru River, process water undergoes several treatment stages, including sedimentation, adjustment of acidity levels or potential of Hydrogen (pH), and testing of various water quality parameters. These stages are carried out to ensure that the discharged water meets the applicable quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Monitoring does not stop at the treatment stage. Agincourt Resources’ technical team conducts regular monitoring, with relevant authorities also involved in oversight. This ensures that water conditions continue to be monitored consistently as part of sustainable environmental management.
Through well-planned treatment processes, measurable data, independent laboratory testing and the involvement of various stakeholders, Agincourt Resources continues to strengthen responsible and transparent water management. More than simply ensuring that processes comply with applicable requirements, these efforts reflect a commitment to safeguarding the environment while providing open and accountable information to the community and stakeholders.
