Young Athlete from Batang Toru Makes History, Secured First Gold Medal in Trail Running at PON XXI!

In the 21st National Sports Week (PON) held in Aceh-North Sumatra from Wednesday to Friday, September 11-13, 2024, a young athlete from Batang Toru made history. Jupiter Andika Putra, a trail runner from Club Jaya Atletik, supported by Agincourt Resources, successfully won the gold medal in the Classic Junior 12K category. This remarkable achievement is also the first for the trail running branch, which has just been introduced at the PON event. 

Not only Jupiter, but four other athletes from Club Jaya Atletik Batang Toru, also supported by Agincourt Resources, brought pride to the region. Muhammad Fajar Riski achieved Fourth Place and Alghi Fahri Azhar Dalimunthe ranked Fifth. Two other athletes, Adi Zulkarnaen and Lusyiana, competed in the 9K Vertical category. All five runners qualified to represent North Sumatra Province.

Jupiter Andika Putra, the trail running athlete who successfully won the gold medal, expressed his gratitude. “I am very grateful to have won the gold medal at the 21st PON. This is a very proud moment for me and all the people of Batang Toru. Thank you to Agincourt Resources for their full support, both in terms of training facilities and motivation. This support has been a great motivation for me to continue training and achieve. I hope that in the future, I can bring honor to the name of Batang Toru and Indonesia in international sporting events,” he said.
