569 Students from Tapanuli Selatan and Padangsidimpuan Receive Martabe Prestasi Scholarships Worth IDR 5.97 Billion

On Friday, July 27, 2025, 569 students from Tapanuli Selatan Regency and Padangsidimpuan City were awarded the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship during a ceremony held at Sopo Daganak, Napa Village, Batang Toru District. The event was organized by Agincourt Resources as part of the company’s commitment to improving education quality and human resource development in the communities surrounding its operations.

For the 2025/2026 academic year, Agincourt Resources allocated IDR 5.97 billion to support students from elementary to university level, particularly those with outstanding achievements from underprivileged families. This year marked a significant milestone, recording the highest number of recipients and largest budget since the program’s inception in 2017. 

General Manager Operations & Deputy Director Operations, Rahmat Lubis, emphasized that education is a powerful tool for transformation. “By providing broader access to education, we aim to nurture future leaders from the local communities who will contribute to the nation. With that vision, we have consistently continued the Martabe Prestasi program for nine years,” he said.

This year’s scholarship recipients have achieved impressive academic milestones, earning admissions to prestigious universities such as Universitas Indonesia (UI), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Politeknik Astra, proving that students from remote areas can compete on a national level when given equal access and opportunity.

Head of the Tapanuli Selatan Education Department, Arman Pasaribu, expressed appreciation for Agincourt Resources’ unwavering commitment to education. “We sincerely thank Agincourt Resources for its ongoing concern and support in enhancing education quality around its operational areas. We hope this program brings tangible benefits to our children and inspires them to contribute to regional progress,” he stated. 

This program also supports the achievement of the fourth point of Sustainable Development Goal SDGs. Ensuring inclusive and quality education. From 2017 to 2025, Agincourt Resources has disbursed IDR 18.79 billion to 2,697 scholarship recipients.

An inspiring story added a heartfelt touch to this year’s awards ceremony. Melda Rahayu Telaumbanua, a student at the University of Bengkulu from Batu Horing Village, Batang Toru Subdistrict, has been receiving a scholarship since her high school years. She has been a recipient of the Sustainable Achievement Award (Penghargaan Prestasi Berkelanjutan/PPB) since 2021. “Given my family’s financial situation, it seemed impossible for me to attend a top-tier school like SMA Negeri 2 Plus Sipirok. But thanks to the scholarship from Agincourt Resources, I was able to receive a proper education. I believe that poverty can be overcome, and one of the keys is education. I am determined to improve my family’s economic condition and to contribute meaningfully to the community where I was born,” she shared. 

Meanwhile, Azwa Wirawan Siregar, a Geological Engineering student at the University of Indonesia from Sisundung Village, Angkola Barat Subdistrict, added, “This support has eased my parents’ financial burden and given me greater motivation to study with focus and confidence,” he said.
