This position is based at the Martabe Site within the MPDE Department and reports directly to the Senior Engineer – Mechanical Projects.
The role of the Engineer / Supervisor – Civil & Structural is to:
- Supervise civil and structural engineering activities to ensure construction works are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with approved specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate the planning, design, execution, and implementation of civil and structural projects, ensuring effective communication among project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor and manage day-to-day construction activities, ensuring work is executed efficiently and in accordance with the approved scope, schedule, and quality requirements.
- Review construction progress, identify technical issues and project risks, and recommend practical solutions to support successful project delivery.
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment (OHSE) requirements, company standards, and applicable statutory regulations while promoting a strong safety culture across project teams.
- Coordinate contractors and internal stakeholders to ensure construction activities are delivered in line with project objectives and engineering standards.
- Support project reporting, including monitoring project progress, resource utilisation, and construction performance.
Candidates for this position are expected to meet the following qualifications and criteria:
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 (five) years of relevant experience in civil or construction projects within the mining, industrial, or infrastructure sectors.
- Demonstrated experience supervising on-site civil, structural, road, or infrastructure construction works.
- Good understanding of construction planning, cost estimation, quantity measurement, and project cost control principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, or other relevant engineering software will be an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles, construction methods, and industry best practices.
- Good understanding of Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment (OHSE) requirements within construction or mining environments.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a site-based environment while managing multiple priorities and meeting project deadlines.
