Agincourt Resources Distributes Martabe Prestasi Scholarships for 2021/2022 Worth IDR 1.51 Billion

Batangtoru, 5 August 2021 — PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR), the operator of the Martabe Gold Mine, has again distributed the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship for the 2021/2022 academic year worth IDR 1.51 billion to 246 outstanding students. The awarding of Martabe Prestasi Scholarship for 2021/2021 was held at the Sopo Daganak amphitheatre building, Batangtoru Subdistrict, South Tapanuli, Thursday (5/8) attended by representatives of PTAR Management, South Tapanuli Education Agency, Padangsidimpuan Education Agency, Subdistrict Consultative Council (Muspika) of Batangtoru and Muara Batangtoru and also representatives of the elders and local community leaders.

Rahmat Lubis, General Manager Operations of PTAR said the Martabe Gold Mine Scholarship program or called Martabe Prestasi Scholarship is one of the flagship programs for Community Development and Empowerment in the field of Education implemented by PTAR. This program aims to increase access to education for high achieving and committed students who come from underprivileged families in Batangtoru Subdistrict & Muara Batangtoru Subdistrict to achieve a higher level of education.

“The 2021 Martabe Prestasi Scholarship acceptance process has started in February 2021, where the selection and determination of scholarship recipients were completed on 25 July 2021, with the number of recipients from various levels of elementary to university as many as 188 students. Other 58 students are recipients of continuous scholarships, bringing the total recipients of this year’s scholarships to 246 students with a value of IDR 1,516,960,000,” said Rahmat.

Rahmat explained that the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship Program which started in 2017 has been successfully held until this year with a total number of recipients at all levels as many as 967 students and the total scholarships distributed have reached IDR 3,666,895,000. “We hope the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship can motivate students and university students so that they can be an inspiration to their families and the surrounding environment, by becoming successful people who can contribute to the progress of Batangtoru, Muara Batangtoru, South Tapanuli and also North Sumatra,” said Rahmat.

He explained that the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship Program is divided into three categories, namely: First, the Academic Achievement Award (PPA) which is intended for outstanding elementary/equivalent and junior high school/equivalent students and come from underprivileged families. The assistance is given once in the form of school supplies or pays off arrears from students to school. Second, the Continuous Achievement Award (PPB) is intended for outstanding senior high school/equivalent students, Diploma III or D3 students and undergraduate (Strata-1 or S1) students and come from underprivileged families. The assistance is given every year until the specified deadline with the rules set by the company through the Martabe Prestasi Committee.

Third, the Special Continuous Achievement Award (Special PPB) which is intended for students from underprivileged families who are accepted at a flagship senior high school level that has been determined by the Martabe Prestasi Committee. “In 2021, we are targeting 4 flagship senior high schools, namely SMAN 2 Balige, SMA Unggul DEL, SMA N 1 Matauli Pandan, and SMA N 2 Plus Sipirok; where we continue to look for opportunities to encourage more students to enter flagship schools and if possible add targeted flagship schools,” said Rahmat.

Meanwhile, the 246 recipients of the 2021 Martabe Prestasi Scholarship consist of 83 elementary school levels for the Academic Achievement Award Category (PPA), 45 junior high school students for the Academic Achievement Award Category (PPA), 12 senior high school students/equivalent for the Continuous Achievement Award Category (PPB), 17 senior high school students for the Special Continuous Achievement Award category (Special PPB), 13 D3 & S1 students at state and private Universities in the Southern Tapanuli region, and 18 D3 & S1 level students in state universities outside the Southern Tapanuli Region (National).

Recipients of elementary/equivalent scholarships will benefit in the form of school supplies assistance in the new school year, with a maximum value of IDR 500,000 and IDR 750,000 for junior high school/equivalent students. This assistance is given only once in the current program year. For senior high school students/equivalent to twelfth (XII) grade, they will receive IDR 3,000,000/year; For D3 students in private educational institutions in the Southern Tapanuli Region area, until the 6th (sixth) semester, they will receive IDR 6,000,000/year; for S1 students at state & private universities in the Southern Tapanuli Region area, until the 8th (eighth) semester they will receive IDR 6,000,000/year; for D3 students at national state educational institutions until the 6th (sixth) semester, they will receive IDR 12,000,000/year; For S1 students at State Universities until the 8th (eighth) semester, IDR 12,000,000/year.

Senior Manager of Corporate Communications, Katarina Siburian Hardono, added that the Martabe Prestasi Scholarship Program is one of the company’s social responsibilities to contribute to the constitutional mandate in providing access to proper education for people in need, especially in the company’s operational areas. In fact, of the five main target sectors of the PTAR Community Development and Empowerment Program, the Scholarship Program is one of the main targets in the implementation of the PTAR Community Development and Empowerment program.

“The Martabe Prestasi Scholarship Program was initiated to reduce dropout rates for local communities, especially vulnerable groups and poor families who have achievements to get a decent education at all levels, from elementary to university level and PTAR is committed to being able to consistently implement this scholarship program. every year,” said Katarina. Katarina stated that the Martabe Gold Mine Scholarship Program has provided real benefits and contributions in creating access to decent education for everyone, especially in the company’s operational areas. This program has won the Didakta Pratama Unggul award at the CSR Indonesia Awards of 2021.
