Cares for Semeru Disaster Agincourt Resources Sends the Emergency Rescue Team and Assistance

Batangtoru, 16 December 2021—PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR), the operator of Martabe Gold Mine sent Emergency Response Team/ERT and logistics assistance to support the handling and recovery of the disaster victims after the Mount Semeru eruption, in Lumajang, East Java.

The team which was dispatched on Monday, 6 December 2021, consisted of one team leader, one medical ERT, and two technical personnel of Search and Rescue (SAR). The team had a task to help relieve the communities affected by the eruption of Mount Semeru occurred on Saturday (4/12), and was directly in charge in the Joint SAR Post with the team of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), including the efforts to search and rescue victims.

This is the proof that PTAR ERT is not only qualified in technical rescue and mining operational safety, but also has high concern and devotes their ability to help others.


“Although the PTAR operational area is in South Tapanuli, North Sumatra which is far away from the disaster location, but we are called to help the recovery of our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster of Mount Semeru eruption. As fellow children of the nation, we are concerned and invite our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster to rise again. Under the coordination of Emergency Response Group (ERG) from the Ministry of ESDM, we hope to ease the burden on the victims,” said Hari Ananto, Senior Manager Environment, Health, Safety (EHS) & Training Development of PTAR.

Furthermore, Hari explained, the team members dispatched had been trained and provided with handling various emergency situations including fire, accidents, search and rescue, medical evacuation, and incidents with mass victims. Moreover, the team also brought other various logistics assistance such as drinking water, masks, tents, blankets, instant noodles, energy drinks, bread, and medicines.

This team, which has several times won rescue competitions, is not the first time it has been deployed to disaster locations, previously PTAR ERT also helped handle and recover various disasters such as the eruption of Mount Sinabung in 2014, earthquake in Pidie, Aceh in 2016, earthquake in Lombok in 2017, earthquake in Palu in 2018, and tsunami in Banten in 2018.

“We have also handed over the logistics assistance to the Regional Agency for Disaster Management (BPBD) of Lumajang District. In the field, our team with ERG of the Ministry of ESDM continue to try to help the search for victims in Sumberwuluh Village of Candipuro and help the medical check of the victims,” concluded Hari.

PTAR ERT is a member of 43 volunteers of Astra Heavy Equipment, Mining, Construction and Energy (AHEMCE) United Tractors Group Cares for the Disaster of Mount Semeru Eruption.
