This position will be based at the Martabe Gold Mine Site within the MPDE Department, with direct reporting to the Superintendent – Project Construction & QA/QC.
The role of the Senior Engineer – QA/QC is to:
- Overseeing quality control and assurance for approved capital projects, which includes implementing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) program, conducting inspections, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with standards, codes, and specifications.
- Leading quality audits, resolving non-conformances, and providing technical expertise to both internal teams and external contractors.
- Develop scopes of work, tender packages, selection of design standards, tender evaluations and project management tools to ensure that the Company is financial and legally protected while achieving optimal value on project expenditure.
- Ensured designs for all projects comply with a recognised International Standard and maintain a high degree of alignment and compatibility with existing plant equipment and spares were practical.
- Manage and report project costs and progress, including cost overruns, savings, variations, schedule changes and project specific information to key stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Supervise internal and external engineering resources and contractors required for the execution of projects.
Applicants for this position are required to fulfill the following qualifications and criteria:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil / structural engineering, or related disciplines from a recognized University
- 8 – 10-years’ experience in civil/construction
- Thorough knowledge of materials handling, crushing and screening system design and construction (all disciplines, civil, structural, mechanical and piping).
- Thorough knowledge of international design standards.
- Thorough experience of monitoring and controlling construction activities and QA/QC systems and procedures.
- Superior ability to identify plant design issues and develop appropriate engineered solutions
- Willingness and skill to develop a national engineering team in the correct design and project management technics
- Computer literate with MS Excel, MS Project, AutoCAD, Scheduling packages, Pronto
- Superior work ethic, be able to effectively communicate with all staff and display a high degree of respect to the local people and their culture.
