This position will be based at the Martabe Gold Mine Site within the Mining and will report directly to the Senior Engineer – Continuous Improvement & FMS.
The role of the Engineer – Continuous Improvement will be:
- Analyse mining operational performance, including production, equipment utilization, cycle time, delay analysis, and productivity trends.
- Identify operational inefficiencies, bottlenecks, ore losses, and waste reduction opportunities within mining activities.
- Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety performance, operational productivity, and cost efficiency.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for operational issues and implement corrective and preventive improvement actions.
- Support optimization initiatives across loading and hauling operations, fleet management systems, drill and blast activities, fuel consumption, ore recovery, dilution control, and mining work systems.
- Collaborate with Mine Operations, Mine Planning, FMS, Mining Contractors, and HSE teams to support operational excellence initiatives.
- Develop and standardize operational procedures, best practices, and sustainable process improvement initiatives.
- Support digitalization, automation, and data-driven decision-making initiatives within mining operations.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness, operational discipline, and continuous improvement among supervisors and operators.
- Prepare performance analysis, improvement reports, dashboards, and management presentations to support operational decision-making.
Candidates for this position are expected to meet the following qualifications and criteria:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in in Mining Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the mining industry, preferably in gold mining operations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Experience in mining operational improvement projects and project management activities.
- Proficient in mining software applications such as Surpac and Minesched.
- Strong understanding of open-pit hard rock mining operations; familiarity with drilling, blasting, and mining project activities will be an advantage.
- Ability to analyze operational data and develop data-driven solutions.
- Experience in handling and analyzing Fleet Management System (FMS) data is preferred.
- Basic understanding of mining digitalization technologies and a strong willingness to learn emerging technologies in open-pit mining operations.
- Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to collaborate across all organizational levels, and a strong commitment to safety and responsible mining practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
- Possession of a valid driving license (SIM A) is preferred.
