This position will be based at the Martabe Site within the Mine Geology Department and will report directly to the Superintendent – AMD Management.
The Senior Geologist – AMD Management is responsible for supporting operational activities through effective management of AMD-related risks during mine operations and mine closure planning. The role provides oversight and leadership to ensure AMD activities are implemented in accordance with operational procedures, particularly the AMD Manual, as well as applicable Government Regulations and Industrial Standards.
The role includes conducting and leading AMD technical studies, performing monitoring and inspection activities, evaluating operational data, preparing reports, and coordinating with key AMD stakeholders. Collaboration will involve cross-functional teams including Mine Geology, TSF, Mine Planning, Environment, Mine Operations, and relevant third parties.
The role also includes developing and delivering training initiatives to strengthen AMD awareness and maintain environmental compliance across operational teams.
Candidates for this position are expected to meet the following qualifications and criteria:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Geochemistry, Geoscience, Mining, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or other related disciplines.
- A relevant postgraduate qualification will be considered an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in AMD Management within an operational site-based environment.
- Possession of a valid Light Vehicle (LV) Driver’s License is mandatory.
- Strong proficiency in spoken and written Bahasa Indonesia and English is essential.
- Strong understanding of mineralization and alteration systems related to AMD Management, including the ability to conduct geochemical risk assessments and waste rock classification within mining operations.
- Proven ability to manage large scientific datasets and perform data analysis, including statistical evaluation and graphical trend analysis.
- Proficiency in geochemical and mining software applications such as SURPAC, Micromine, Leapfrog Geo, MineSched, and IOGAS will be considered an advantage.
- Strong capability in planning, scheduling, and interpreting geochemical laboratory testing within operational, consulting, or academic environments.
- Experience in conducting quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews for geoscience projects and/or laboratory testing.
- Experience in rock geochemistry and/or hydrogeochemistry within academic, consulting, or operational site-based roles is preferred.
- Familiarity with Indonesian environmental regulations and environmental permitting requirements is required.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm, self-motivation, and the ability to remain focused while achieving work objectives with minimal supervision.
