This position will be based at the Martabe Gold Mine Site within the Processing (Maintenance) Department and will report directly to the Supervisor – Mechanical Rebuild Fitter.
The Senior Mechanical – Rebuild Fitter position has been created to address the increasing workload of component rebuilds within the Mechanical Department. The role requires a specialist with hands-on experience in rebuilding mechanical components commonly found in processing plants, including gearboxes, pumps, valves, and other precision parts. Proficiency in machining and fitting is essential to ensure high-quality workmanship and to minimize the need for rework. In addition to workshop responsibilities, the Senior Mechanical – Rebuild Fitter will also support field-based equipment repair, replacement, and installation activities during plant shutdowns.
Candidates for this position are expected to meet the following qualifications and criteria:
- Minimum of Technical or Senior High School; a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- Formal Mechanical Trade Training certification.
- At least 3 years of experience in a senior tradesperson or lead hand role within mining, oil & gas, or a similar heavy industrial environment.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience rebuilding the following equipment: Gearboxes, Pumps and pump barrels, Valves, Jaw and cone crusher components, Pulleys and plummer blocks, and Heat exchangers.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and equipment overhaul manuals.
- Solid understanding of rebuild shop equipment and tooling.
- Strong knowledge of bearing and seal types and their applications.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and contribute to a positive team environment.
- Self-motivated, disciplined, and able to work with minimal supervision while meeting targets and deadlines.
- Effective communicator with a high level of respect and professionalism in interactions with all personnel.
