This position is located at the Martabe Site within the Exploration Department and reports directly to the Superintendent – Exploration.
The Supervisor – GIS will provide expert GIS support to facilitate the efficient generation of concise and relevant reports, documents, geological plans, and data. The role is pivotal in ensuring that exploration data is accurately integrated into the site database and adheres to the file structure and storage protocols, ensuring transparency and ease of access for all stakeholders.
Candidates for this position are expected to meet the following qualifications and criteria:
- Minimum of Senior High School; however, a bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geography, or other Natural Resources-related fields is preferred.
- Proven ability to complete large and complex projects successfully.
- Proficient in computer applications, including database management.
- Experience with MapInfo, Micromine, or similar software for data processing and manipulation.
- At least 5 years of experience in GIS, with a strong background in geological data support, particularly in exploration.
- Previous experience in supervising both technical professionals and non-technical staff.
- Ability to make independent technical decisions, implement programs, and prioritize work with minimal guidance.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills, including leading teams and providing direction to both technical and non-technical staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to listen actively and convey information in a clear and concise manner.
- Capable of analysing, obtaining, and processing information for problem-solving and decision-making purposes.
- Demonstrates the ability to generate new ideas and solutions.
