Organic Farming Facilitators in Batangtoru Ready to Assist Farmers Towards a Sustainable Food Future

Jun 11, 2024

The agricultural sector in South Tapanuli is celebrating good news once again. Eight organic farming facilitators in the Batangtoru region have officially obtained certification after participating in training and competency exams facilitated by Agincourt Resources. This certification is a crucial asset for the facilitators as they guide farmers in implementing sustainable organic farming systems and producing high-quality food products.

The certification activities were divided into two stages. In the first stage, held from June 6-11, 2024, the facilitators received training and hands-on practice in making organic fertilizers and botanical pesticides, as well as post-harvest management for organic farming. In the second stage, on June 12, 2024, the facilitators were tested through competency exams to ensure they are ready to assist farmers in the field.

The facilitators who participated in this certification included two Millennial Farmer Actors, three individuals from the Batangtoru Agricultural Extension Center (BPP), one person from the BPP Manompas Muara Batangoru, and employees of Agincourt Resources. They have shown high dedication and enthusiasm in undergoing the training and competency exams.

Agincourt Resources’ effort to facilitate the certification of organic farming facilitators is part of the company’s commitment to supporting the development of sustainable agriculture in South Tapanuli. With an increasing number of competent facilitators, it is hoped that farmers in this region will have easier access to information and guidance to implement better organic farming systems. This will positively impact the welfare of farmers and the community in South Tapanuli as a whole.
