Starting Green Practices in Schools

On Thursday, September 19, 2024, in an e_ort to create an environmentally friendly school and produce young generation who care about the environment, Agincourt Resources held socialization of the Environmental Care and Culture Movement in Schools (GPBLHS) or Adiwiyata program at SMK Negeri 2 Batang Toru.

This activity was attended by 88 guest participants consisting of principals, teachers, and student representatives from 8 senior high schools (SMA)/ equivalents in South Tapanuli Regency, namely SMA Negeri 1 Batang Toru, SMK Negeri 1 Batang Toru, SMK Negeri 2 Batang Toru, SMK Negeri 1 Muara Batang Toru, SMK Negeri 1 Marancar, SMK Negeri 1 Angkola Sangkunur, SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Barat, and Madrasah Aliyah NU Napa.

This socialization was held in collaboration between Agincourt Resources and the Regional Environmental Agency (DLHD) of South Tapanuli Regency and was attended by Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) such as the Regional Education Agency of South Tapanuli Regency, the Branch Office of Region XI North Sumatra and the Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Agency (PPPA) of South Tapanuli Regency.

Agincourt Resources Community Development Manager, Rohani Simbolon, conveyed the importance of the Adiwiyata program in shaping the character of students who care about the environment.

“Since 2020, Agincourt Resources has been actively supporting the Adiwiyata program in South Tapanuli Regency. We hope that through this socialization, more schools will be interested in becoming Adiwiyata schools,” she said. South Tapanuli Regent Dolly Pasaribu said that “this program aligns with our mission to create a clean and healthy environment for the people of South Tapanuli. I hope the Adiwiyata program can inspire other schools to participate,” he said.
