Agincourt Resources once again reaffirms its commitment to maintaining environmental quality, particularly the quality of processed water from the Martabe Gold Mine. The company routinely conducts independent laboratory tests on the quality of the processed water and openly shares the results with the public and other stakeholders.
At a dissemination event held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Mega Permata Hotel, Padangsidimpuan, the company presented the latest laboratory test results, which confirmed that the quality of the processed water discharged into the Batangtoru River meets the government’s regulatory standards. This transparency is crucial for building public trust and protecting the surrounding environment.
Sofyan Adil, Secretary of the South Tapanuli Regency and Chairman of the Integrated Team, praised Agincourt Resources’ transparent approach. He explained that the latest Integrated Team has been formed, comprising representatives from local government, experts, and the local mining community. “In addition to monitoring, the community can also learn behaviors that help preserve the river’s ecosystem and biodiversity, following the established principles,” he explained.
The water parameters analyzed include acidity level (pH), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), mercury (Hg), nickel (Ni), cyanide (CN), arsenic (As), copper (Cu), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn).
Rahmat Lubis, General Manager of Operations and Deputy Director Operations at Agincourt Resources, emphasized that the company’s commitment to sustainable environmental conservation is demonstrated not only through routine sample testing and collaboration with the Integrated Team Monitoring the Quality of Processed Water from the Martabe Gold Mine but also through the installation of sparing sensors at processed water discharge points. These sensors monitor water quality parameters and are directly connected to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
