In an effort to accelerate the elimination of tuberculosis in Tapanuli Selatan Regency, Agincourt Resources, in collaboration with the local Health Department, has organized a tuberculosis (TB) control training for healthcare workers at primary healthcare facilities. The four-day training, held from Tuesday to Friday, November 5-8, 2024, was attended by 30 participants, consisting of 13 doctors and 17 nurses, representing 17 community health centers across the regency.
Yayan Nuryawan, Superintendent of Community Services at Agincourt Resources, stated that PTAR and the Tapanuli Selatan Health Department have long collaborated in the prevention and control of TB in Tapanuli Selatan. “This year, we have expanded our reach to cover 17 community health centers in Tapanuli Selatan. This training is a certified program designed to enhance the quality of healthcare workers at the primary healthcare level. We hope that after this activity, healthcare workers can reduce TB cases in Tapanuli Selatan Regency,” he said.

In her speech, Emilda Arasanti, Head of the Prevention and Control of Diseases Division at the Tapanuli Selatan Health Department, conveyed that the collaboration has been expanded to cover the entire regency. “We greatly appreciate the support provided by Agincourt Resources in our joint efforts to address the TB problem in Tapanuli Selatan. This training is a significant step in improving the quality of healthcare services for the community and bringing us closer to achieving the 2030 TB elimination target,” she stated.
The TB control training, organized by the Tapanuli Selatan Health Department with full support from Agincourt Resources, the operator of the Martabe Gold Mine, is a progressive step towards a TB-free Tapanuli Selatan Regency. By increasing the capacity of healthcare workers and strengthening cross-sectoral collaboration, it is hoped that the national TB elimination target can be achieved.
