Primary Health Service Integration Preparing the Front Line of Village Healthcare through Innovation and Capacity Building for Posyandu Cadres

May 28, 2025

Agincourt Resources conducted a series of training sessions on 25 essential skills for posyandu (integrated health post) cadres, along with a posyandu innovation bootcamp, from 21 to 28 May 2025 in the subdistricts of Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru. This initiative is part of the Company’s broader efforts to expand and strengthen its Primary Health Service Integration (ILP) program, and aims to reinforce posyandu innovation and regenerate community health cadres.

A total of 95 posyandu cadres and two cadres from auxiliary community health centers (Pustu) benefited from the program. The activities included a Training of Trainers (ToT) for puskesmas (public health center) staff, training on 25 posyandu core competencies, a field survey at Pustu Muara Manompas, and an innovation bootcamp for posyandu development.

Rohani Simbolon, Manager Community Development of Agincourt Resources, explained that this initiative is part of the implementation of the Company’s 2022, 2026 primary healthcare strengthening program. “We hope the cadres who have participated in this training will become the frontline force in revitalizing posyandu and the ILP at Batang Toru Health Center and Hutaraja Health Center in 2025. Furthermore, they are expected to apply the standard 25 basic competencies and communicate community health issues from their respective villages or subdistricts to the local health center,” Rohani stated.

Murni Gus Irawan Pasaribu, Chairperson of the Family Welfare and Empowerment Movement (TP PKK) of South Tapanuli Regency, added that the training covered a range of skills, including posyandu management and services for infants, toddlers, pregnant and breastfeeding mothers, school-aged children and adolescents, as well as adults and the elderly. “I encourage all participants to seize this opportunity to align visions and missions, and to strengthen collaboration in delivering community healthcare services,” Murni remarked.

Rohima, a cadre supervisor from Napa Village, shared the benefits she gained from Agincourt Resources’ training. “Community visits to posyandu are no longer limited to mothers and children, but now span the entire life cycle, from infants and toddlers to adolescents, pregnant women, and the elderly. Posyandu cadres are now also capable of conducting blood pressure checks, as well as health screenings for blood sugar, uric acid, cholesterol, and hemoglobin levels,” she explained.

The achievements of Agincourt Resources’ trained cadres are truly commendable. In 2025, Elvina Nasution from Posyandu Kamboja Telo was appointed as an Edu Assessor Cadre by PT Astra International Tbk’s Avicenna program. In the previous year, five posyandu under the Company’s guidance ranked among the top 10 in the Posyandu Appreciation Program by PT Astra International Tbk, with two, Tulip 1 from Sipenggeng Village and Suplir 1 from Napa Village, reaching the top five. Tulip 1 even secured third place. Additionally, two cadres, Rohima from Suplir 1 and Elsy from Teratai Indah, were selected as Edu Assessor Cadres under the same program, with Elsy also ranking among the top five best cadres in 2024. In 2023, Posyandu Teratai Indah from Hapesong Lama Village had already achieved a top-five position in the same competition.

These activities highlight Agincourt Resources’ ongoing commitment to strengthening community health services by enhancing the capacity of posyandu cadres. Through the collaboration between Agincourt Resources, the South Tapanuli District Health Office, Batang Toru Community Health Center, and Hutaraja Community Health Center with Sinergi Medika Indonesia in the form of continuous training, it is expected that a strong and inclusive health ecosystem will be established to support the entire life cycle of communities in the mining-affected villages.
