Batang Toru, July 28, 2025 – Approximately 3,000 participants from South Tapanuli and Padangsidimpuan flocked to the Martabe Run 2025, an event organized by PT Agincourt Resources, operator of the Martabe Gold Mine, to celebrate the 13th anniversary of its first gold pour while also promoting a healthy lifestyle and supporting athlete regeneration in the Direct Affected Village (DAV).
The Martabe Run, held in Batang Toru, South Tapanuli, on July 27, 2025, featured three race categories: 2.5K, 5K, and 10K. Participants came from various backgrounds, including local communities, students, sports clubs, employees of PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR), and contractors of the Martabe Gold Mine.
The General Manager of Operations & Deputy Director of Operations at PT Agincourt Resources, Rahmat Lubis, stated that the Martabe Run is a tangible demonstration of the company’s commitment to supporting a healthy lifestyle, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship within the community, and nurturing talented local athletes.
“This event is part of our historic celebration, marking 13 years since the first gold pour at the Martabe Gold Mine. We want to commemorate it with activities that are healthy, enjoyable, and inclusive for all segments of the community,” said Rahmat.

Since the first gold pour on July 24, 2012, PTAR has grown not only as a producer of valuable minerals, but also as a driver of local economic growth, a pioneer in mining technology innovation, and a front-runner in biodiversity conservation efforts, particularly in the Batang Toru area.
“All of this reflects our commitment to sustainable mining. One aspect of our sustainability efforts is through sports, which provides opportunities for younger generations to grow and become future leading athletes,” Rahmat added.
As part of the Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM), the youth and sports sector has become an important pillar alongside education, health, infrastructure, socio-culture, and local economic empowerment. Through the Jaya Atletik Batang Toru Club, which is coached by PTAR, high-achieving athletes have emerged in various regional and national championships.
One of them is Jupiter Andika Putra, a trail running athlete who won a gold medal in the Classic Junior 12K category at the National Sports Week (PON) XXI Aceh-North Sumatra) in September 2024. In addition, PTAR trains local young athletes in football and martial arts.
The Regent of South Tapanuli, Gus Irawan Pasaribu, expressed appreciation for PTAR’s contribution in supporting the health and sports sectors. He assessed that the presence of PTAR through routine programs such as the Martabe Prestasi scholarship, the Specialist Doctors Go to the Villages program, and the plan for free cataract surgery demonstrates the company’s consistent commitment to community welfare.
“Every month, PTAR visits villages to provide free healthcare services. This is an extraordinary demonstration of care. The Martabe Run is also very important in promoting a healthy lifestyle, particularly among the younger generation,” said Gus Irawan when attending the Martabe Run 2025.
He further emphasized that sports serve as a positive outlet to prevent youth from engaging in harmful behaviors such as drug abuse and online gambling.

“No one becomes successful because of drugs, and no one becomes wealthy through online gambling. Our youth must choose a healthy and productive path. Make use of positive spaces like Sopo Daganak, owned by PTAR, to develop your interests and talents,” he said.
Local athlete Victorius Mendrofa, from Wek 3 Village, Batang Toru, won first place in the 10K category with a finish time of 35 minutes and 25 seconds. A member of the Jaya Atletik Batang Toru Club, Victorius had previously won the 10K category at the prestigious Jogja Marathon in June 2025.
“Thank you to PTAR for organizing the Martabe Run. The event is exciting, and I believe all participants enjoyed it. Personally, I am grateful to PTAR for nurturing and supporting me, which has allowed me to achieve success in various major competitions,” he said.
Martabe Run 2025 was held through a collaboration between PTAR, the All-Indonesian Athletics Association (PASI), the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), the South Tapanuli Regency Government, and other relevant stakeholders. The event also received full support from several of the company’s partners, including PT Macmahon Mining Services, PT Supra Bakti Mandiri, PT G4S Security Services, PT Anggun Permai Tekindo, PT Sangati Soerya Sejahtera, PT Indodrill Indonesia, PT Gobel Dharma Sarana Karya, PT Promincon Indonesia, and PT Trans Continent.
