Batang Toru, 16 December 2025 – The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has provided humanitarian assistance to victims of flash floods and landslides in Garoga Village and surrounding areas, Batang Toru District, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra. The assistance was officially handed over to the South Tapanuli Regency Government and distributed with operational support from PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR), the government’s local partner with established infrastructure, resources, and emergency response capabilities in the affected areas.
The handover of the assistance took place at PTAR’s logistics office in Batang Toru, which has served as a coordination and logistics distribution center since the beginning of the disaster to support the local government and relevant ministries. The assistance provided comprised 267 tents of various sizes, including 4×4-meter family tents, 10 jet cleaner units, chainsaws, mattresses, and emergency lamps to support the recovery of disaster-affected communities.
During the handover, a representative of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources symbolically presented the assistance to the Assistant for General Administration of the South Tapanuli Regional Secretariat, Triyanta Hadil Khoiri Dairiyawan, and the Head of Garoga Village, Risman Rambe, accompanied by the General Manager Operations&Deputy Director Operations of Agincourt Resources, Rahmat Lubis.
Triyanta expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for its attention and tangible support for the people of South Tapanuli, as well as to PT Agincourt Resources for providing operational support in the distribution of aid on the ground.
“Thank you to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources for its concern and concrete assistance for the people of South Tapanuli. PTAR’s operational support has been instrumental in enabling the local government to distribute state aid more quickly and effectively, particularly to areas with limited access,” he said.
Meanwhile, Rahmat Lubis emphasized that PT Agincourt Resources fully supports the distribution of assistance from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources through close coordination with the local government.
“With the resources, infrastructure, and emergency response teams we have, PTAR will distribute this assistance from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to survivors in Garoga Village and surrounding affected villages, through evacuation shelters coordinated by the South Tapanuli Regency Government. We operate under the guidance of the local government to ensure that the distribution is orderly, transparent, and reaches those most in need,” he said.
Since the disaster occurred, PTAR, together with the South Tapanuli Regency Government, the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Indonesian National Armed Forces and Police (TNI-Polri, PTAR’s Disaster Preparedness Team, the ESDM Emergency Response Group (ERG), and volunteers have established command posts, set up public kitchens, provided healthcare services, and deployed heavy equipment and helicopters to open access and deliver logistics to isolated areas.
Rahmat expressed hope that the additional assistance from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will further strengthen the support from the local government and business partners in restoring the conditions of communities affected by the floods and landslides in Batang Toru.
“This assistance not only strengthens logistics on the ground but also demonstrates that the central government, local government, and business partners are working in unison to accelerate the recovery of the community. At PTAR, we will ensure that every support entrusted to us truly reaches the people in need,” said Rahmat.
Support from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources strengthens the synergy between the central government, local governments, and business actors in the affected areas.
