Road safety has become a tangible challenge for young people as mobility and the use of motor vehicles continue to increase among school-aged students. Agincourt Resources, in collaboration with PT Astra International Tbk through Honda Astra Motor, has handed over a Safety Riding Centre to State Vocational High School (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan/SMK) Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan. The support includes the development of key facilities such as a practical riding safety track, learning spaces, and other supporting infrastructure, along with road safety education equipment, including simulators and learning tools. The handover ceremony took place on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, at the school’s hall.

In her remarks, Manager Community Development of Agincourt Resources, Rohani Simbolon, stated that the Safety Riding Centre programme forms part of the company’s long-term commitment to community development and empowerment, particularly in the fields of education and safety. SMK Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan was selected due to its large student population, high levels of mobility, and the availability of adequate school grounds to support the development of road safety learning facilities.
“Through this facility, we hope students will develop an early understanding of safe and responsible riding practices. We also hope the benefits can extend to other schools in the surrounding area,” she said.
She added that the programme is expected to contribute to reducing and mitigating road traffic accidents, especially among students and young people. In an atmosphere of empathy, Rohani also invited all attendees to offer prayers for communities affected by floods and landslides in South Tapanuli Regency, while expressing hope that the recovery process would proceed smoothly.

Joining the event virtually, Marketing Division Head of Astra Motor, Ronny Agustinus, explained that the Safety Riding Centre reflects Astra’s commitment to fostering a culture of road safety. According to him, safety is not only about riding skills, but also about cultivating discipline, responsibility, and care for fellow road users. He expressed hope that the facility would serve as a sustainable learning platform for students.
The Principal of SMK Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan, Zendro Hasibuan, conveyed his appreciation for the support provided by Agincourt Resources and Astra. He explained that the programme originated from a request submitted by the school, and that the facilities had already been in use since November 2025, prior to their official inauguration.
“Previously, the simulator room had not been utilised optimally. Now, it can function as a relevant and practical learning facility for students,” he noted.
The Safety Riding Centre is designed as an open facility, accessible not only to students of SMK Negeri 2 Padangsidimpuan, but also to neighbouring schools and the wider community. Enthusiasm was also expressed by students. Aldo Fairuz, a Year 12 student from the Motorcycle Engineering programme, shared his excitement about the new facility and hoped that the learning experience would help him better understand safe riding practices and prepare for his future driving licence test.
The handover ceremony was attended by the Head of Administration of the Regional Education Office Area XI of Padangsidimpuan City, North Sumatra Province, Mangatas Siregar; the Head of the Community Development Unit of Padangsidimpuan Police, Sulaiman Rangkuti; as well as representatives from vocational schools across Padangsidimpuan. Through this collaboration, Agincourt Resources reaffirmed its commitment to instilling road safety awareness from an early age as part of its efforts to nurture a smart, skilled, and safety-conscious young generation.
