Water is one of the most essential natural resources for life. For this reason, its management remains a key priority in responsible mining practices. At the Martabe Gold Mine, water management extends beyond regulatory compliance and forms part of the Company’s long-term commitment to environmental stewardship and maintaining public trust.

This commitment was reaffirmed through Agincourt Resources’ participation in the National Seminar organised by the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Division of the Gadjah Mada University Alumni Association (KAGAMA) on 4th June 2026. During the event, the Company shared its approach to managing water quality, air quality, and waste as part of its commitment to responsible mining practices.
Manager Environmental of Agincourt Resources, Mahmud Subagya, emphasised that water is one of the environmental aspects receiving particular attention within the Company’s operational management.
“Water is an environmental aspect that we manage with great care and responsibility. Through consistent treatment, monitoring, and testing systems, we strive to ensure that all process water discharged into the environment complies with the quality standards established by the Government,” he said.
As part of this commitment, Agincourt Resources operates the Water Polishing Plant (WPP), a water treatment facility designed to process mine water before it is safely released back into the environment. The system helps ensure that discharged water consistently meets applicable environmental quality standards.

In addition to treatment processes, water quality monitoring is conducted regularly through a collaborative mechanism involving various stakeholders. Since 2013, Agincourt Resources and the Integrated Monitoring Team, comprising representatives from local government and surrounding communities, have routinely conducted monthly water sampling activities. The samples are analysed by accredited independent laboratories, and the results are openly shared with stakeholders as part of the Company’s commitment to transparency.
This collaborative approach not only strengthens environmental oversight but also provides an opportunity for communities to gain a direct understanding of how water quality monitoring is carried out. Such transparency serves as an important foundation for building trust and accountability in environmental management.
Beyond water management, the Company also conducts continuous air quality monitoring and waste management programmes as part of its efforts to maintain a balance between operational activities and environmental protection. These initiatives reflect Agincourt Resources’ commitment to implementing mining practices aligned with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
Through data-driven management, transparent monitoring, and collaboration with communities and government stakeholders, Agincourt Resources continues to ensure that environmental protection goes hand in hand with operational sustainability, enabling the benefits of mining to be shared by both present and future generations.
