Efforts to restore the river ecosystem and revive Lubuk Larangan in Hapesong Lama Village were marked by the release of 7,000 jurung fish fingerlings on 27 August 2026. The activity was part of Agincourt Resources’ support for the restoration of Lubuk Larangan, which was affected by a flash flood in November 2025.
Previously, Agincourt Resources had supported Lubuk Larangan in Hapesong Lama Village since 2024, with positive results. The first harvest, held in early 2025, generated income for the village treasury. However, plans for the next harvest at the end of 2025 were disrupted when a flash flood swept away most of the fish in the area.
Recognising the potential for restoration, the village committee and Agincourt Resources conducted an assessment of the river’s condition. The assessment indicated that the area remained suitable for redevelopment as a Lubuk Larangan.
As part of its support, Agincourt Resources restocked the area with 7,000 jurung fish fingerlings, a local fish species native to North Sumatra, along with fish feed. The release was attended by representatives of the sub-district and village governments, as well as local residents. Around 70 community members participated in the activity.
Agincourt Resources’ Community Relations Manager, Masdar Muda Hasibuan, said that the company remained committed to supporting the Community Empowerment and Development Programme (PPM), including biodiversity conservation and the protection of local species such as jurung fish.
He expressed hope that the community would continue to protect the jurung fish population and preserve the river environment and ecosystem, ensuring that the benefits of Lubuk Larangan could be sustained for generations to come.
This restoration effort marks a step towards reviving Lubuk Larangan while safeguarding the natural resources that have long been part of life in Hapesong Lama Village.
