First Planting of Shallot Cultivation, A Contribution to Curb Inflation

On Monday, July 8, 2024, Agincourt Resources took a proactive step to curb inflation by facilitating the first planting of shallot cultivation in Sipenggeng Village, Batangtoru District. This initiative directly involved five local farmers, with shallots chosen for their significant impact on inflation not only in South Tapanuli but also in North Sumatra. 

Pandapotan Saputra, a Millennial Farmer Actor, was a key speaker at the event. He provided comprehensive training on various aspects of shallot cultivation, including soil pH measurement, bulb selection techniques, soil preparation, planting methods, fertilizer analysis and application, pest and disease identification and control, and the proper use of pesticides and fertilizers. Additionally, he offered guidance on harvesting, handling, and packaging techniques.

 Sannip, one of the participating farmers, noted that shallots are a new crop for Sipenggeng Village. He expressed hope that the knowledge gained from this training would lead to a successful harvest, providing a strong foundation for future planting seasons.  This initiative underscores Agincourt Resources’ commitment to empowering the community and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. By equipping farmers with essential knowledge and skills, the company is helping to ensure economic resilience and improved living standards, paving the way for a more secure and prosperous future for the community of Sipenggeng Village.
