Martabe Gold Mine Free Cataract Surgery 589 Eyes of 569 Patients Successfully Restored”Open Your Eyes, See the Beauty of the World”

On Friday, July 26, 2024, the Martabe Gold Mine officially launched its 10th annual free cataract surgery program, “Open Your Eyes, See the Beauty of the World,” at the Batang Toru Community Health Center. A remarkable 589 eyes of 569 patients have successfully regained their vision.

Noviandri, Director and Chief Financial Officer of Agincourt Resources, expressed the company’s unwavering commitment to continuously contribute to reducing cataract-induced blindness in North Sumatra.

“Through this program, we hope to assist those in need and improve their quality of life. Since the program’s inception in 2011, Agincourt Resources has helped restore the sight of 10,571 cataract patients in North Sumatra,” said Noviandri.

In collaboration with Mencirim 77 Eye Hospital in Medan, the Martabe Gold Mine’s free cataract surgery program, “Buka Mata, Lihat Indahnya Dunia”, will be held at three locations this year, Batang Toru Community Health Center from July 20 to August 3, 2024; Siantar Eye Hospital from August 27 to 31, 2024; and Mencirim 77 Eye Hospital in Medan from September 5 to 8, 2024.

Coinciding with the inauguration of the free cataract surgery program organized by Martabe Gold Mine, a handover ceremony was held as part of the Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM).

 This assistance consists of various equipment for the drug rehabilitation room at the South Tapanuli District General Hospital (RSUD), including 1 projector, 1 television, 7 dining tables, 40 4-foot spring beds, 10 desks, 5 swivel office chairs, 50 folding chairs, 20 wardrobes, 1 ping pong table, and 40 sets of bed sheets, pillows, and pillowcases.”

 The handover process was witnessed directly by the Director and Chief Financial Officer of Agincourt Resources, Noviandri. The handover minutes were signed by the Senior Manager Community of Agincourt Resources, Christine Pepah, and the Head of the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the General Hospital (RSUD), drg. Muhammad Firdausi Batubara.
