Batang Toru, April 10, 2025 – PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR) continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development through a range of social initiatives that have a direct impact on local communities. The operator of the Martabe Gold Mine has officially handed over support totaling IDR 2.76 billion as part of its Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM) for residents in the Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru sub-districts, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra.
The assistance includes 1 ambulance fully equipped with medical supplies, 1 garbage truck along with 2 waste bins, each with a 6 m³ capacity, 4 motorcycles for mobile health services (Puskesmas Keliling), 6 motorcycles for the mobile library services, as well as 7,028 school bags and stationery packages for elementary school students in the Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru sub-districts.
Rahmat Lubis, General Manager Operations & Deputy Director of Operations at Agincourt Resources, explained that all of this assistance is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to actively contribute to improving the quality of life for local communities—especially those around the mining area—and to support the Public Contribution Pillar of Astra’s 2030 Sustainability Aspirations.

“Sustainability is a core principle in our operations. We want to ensure that our presence brings real benefits to both the community and the surrounding environment. In 2024, we implemented various PPM programs with a direct impact on the community, with a total value of over USD 2.6 million. These programs will, of course, continue for as long as the mine remains operational,” said Rahmat during the handover of the PPM Program assistance in Batang Toru on Thursday (April 10, 2025).
He added that all these initiatives also support the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 3 Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4 Quality Education, and SDG 11 Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Christine Pepah, Senior Manager of Community at Agincourt Resources, stated that this support is a tangible response to the needs and proposals of the local community and relevant stakeholders, made possible through strong collaboration and support from the South Tapanuli Regency Government.
“The support for ambulances for the Batang Toru Community Health Center began from the need for a quick response to emergency cases with adequate facilities. Meanwhile, we hand over the Mobile Health Center (Puskesmas Keliling) motorcycles to field officers to support healthcare services in remote locations, in line with the national Primary Service Integration program,” said Christine.

The Mobile Health Center and Mobile Library programs are being implemented in collaboration with strategic partners PT Astra Honda Motor and PT Indako Trading Coy. The Mobile Library aims to reach more children in the Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru areas, fostering an early interest in reading.
Meanwhile, the garbage truck donated to the South Tapanuli Environmental Agency is expected to help reduce waste volume and improve the integrated waste management system in Batang Toru.
“We also aim to inspire all elementary school students to be more enthusiastic about learning by providing them with school bags and stationery,” Christine added.
This initiative by PTAR reflects the company’s genuine efforts to create long-term added value and to strengthen harmonious relationships with the community and all stakeholders within the framework of sustainable mining
The Regent of South Tapanuli, Gus Irawan Pasaribu, expressed his appreciation for PTAR’s contributions, which are considered consistent in supporting the development of South Tapanuli, particularly in the sectors of health, education, and the environment.
“PTAR’s Community Development Program (PPM) assistance is highly relevant to the actual needs of the community. This is not just ceremonial support, but a genuine reflection of the company’s concern for improving people’s quality of life. I hope this kind of synergy will continue,” said Gus Irawan Pasaribu.
Elina Indriani Batubara, Head of the Batang Toru Community Health Center, also expressed her appreciation for PTAR’s support in enhancing primary healthcare services in the region, particularly for residents living in remote areas with limited access to health facilities.
“The ambulance and motorcycle assistance is crucial in accelerating medical response, particularly in reaching remote villages. This directly impacts the safety and convenience of the community in accessing healthcare services,” Elina stated.
