From Monday to Friday, 28 July – 1 August 2025, Agincourt Resources, in collaboration with PT Orica Mining Services Indonesia and the District Health Office of South Tapanuli Regency, conducted a tuberculosis (TB) screening programme using mobile X-ray facilities at the Batang Toru Community Health Centre (Puskesmas). This programme is part of the initiative Menuju Tapanuli Selatan Bebas Tuberkulosis (ENTAS TBC), which aims to enable early detection of individuals at risk of, or already infected with, pulmonary tuberculosis—both symptomatic and asymptomatic cases.
The programme targeted the general public, with a total of 351 respondents undergoing chest X-ray examinations as a screening method. Of this number, 51 individuals were detected with indications of active TB. This figure is considered high as it exceeds the predetermined target of 10% or 35 individuals, reflecting the significant prevalence of TB cases in South Tapanuli Regency.
A person with TB can transmit the disease to 10–15 other individuals. This means that with the detection of 51 people with indications of active TB, potential transmission to 510–765 people could be prevented. Therefore, the TB screening programme through mobile X-ray services has a significant impact on TB control efforts in South Tapanuli Regency.
Agincourt Resources’ Senior Manager for Community, Christine Pepah, expressed her appreciation for the cross-sector collaboration in implementing this programme. “We sincerely thank all of you for your presence and time in taking part in this tuberculosis screening through the mobile X-ray service. We also extend our gratitude to PT Orica Mining Services Indonesia for their valuable contribution. This screening is a tangible step in preventing TB transmission within the community,” she said.
Also present at the event were representatives from PT Orica Mining Services Indonesia, namely Territory Manager Specialty Mining Chemicals Asia, Reza Rinaldi, and Marketing Specialist Mining Chemicals Global, Bernadette Joy Cenita. From the South Tapanuli District Health Office, the Acting Head, Dr Emilda Arasanti, attended along with other health office staff.
