Through a spirit of collaboration between the company, government, and local communities, Agincourt Resources has once again introduced an initiative focused on enhancing food security. The corn planting and cacao cultivation programme, held on 16th October 2025 in Sumuran and Hutagodang, South Tapanuli Regency, symbolises the growth of new hope for farmers to achieve independence and prosperity through their own harvests.

During the event, a symbolic handover of 10,000 cocoa seedlings was conducted for farmer groups in Hutagodang Village. Senior Manager Community of Agincourt Resources, Christine Pepah, stated that this initiative not only aims to expand the potential of cocoa as a key commodity but also to strengthen community food security through the development of corn cultivation.
“We aim to empower local communities through the right approach and assistance so that farmers in South Tapanuli can develop cocoa and corn as superior commodities. Our support does not stop at providing seedlings it also includes training, land preparation, and facilitating market access in collaboration with the South Tapanuli Agriculture Office,” she said.

In Lubuk Tano, Sumuran Village, 18 farmers participated in the initial corn planting covering 10 hectares of land, while in Hamparan Pulo Godang, 25 farmers joined with the same land area. The programme is expected to increase farmers’ income and encourage food self-sufficiency through an integrated agricultural system. The harvest will later be absorbed by Agincourt Resources as feed material for the company’s ongoing layer chicken farming programme in Aekpahu, Napa Village.
Support for the initiative also came from the South Tapanuli Agriculture Office, represented by the Head of Food Crops Division, Yeni Lubis, who attended on behalf of the Head of the Office.
“Currently, the areas with the highest number of cocoa trees are Marancar and Sayur Matinggi Sub-districts. Agincourt Resources’ initiative marks an important starting point to revitalise South Tapanuli’s cocoa potential up to downstream stages. We hope that within the next four years, chocolate can become one of the signature products of South Tapanuli and Batang Toru,” she remarked.
One of the corn farmers from Sumuran Village, Suryadi, also expressed his appreciation for the company’s assistance.
“Agincourt Resources has helped us a lot, from improving road access to the fields and building farmer huts to providing training that has made us more confident in managing our own farms,” he said.
Through these concrete actions, Agincourt Resources continues to generate added value from the land of Tapanuli, strengthen food security, and pave the way towards sustainable community prosperity.
