Managing Water, Restoring Life Post-Disaster Recovery Efforts at the Garoga River

Jan 9, 2026

Flash floods and landslides that struck the areas surrounding the Garoga River caused extensive damage to farmland, residential areas, and disrupted road access and community mobility. This situation created an urgent need for affected communities to receive aid, transportation access, and rapid infrastructure recovery.

Agincourt Resources deployed field teams, heavy machinery, and supporting equipment to accelerate the recovery process. Initial efforts focused on redirecting the flow of the affected Garoga River, where the flash floods had blocked Garoga River 1 and 2 with timber and mud, forming a new channel, Garoga River 3, which damaged homes and farmland. Through the construction of embankments and safe restoration of the river’s flow, road access was reopened, aid distribution resumed, and community mobility gradually recovered.

Additionally, Agincourt Resources established a health post for affected residents. Healthcare personnel at the post conducted medical check-ups, provided medications, and offered psychological support to ensure residents’ conditions were monitored and health risks minimised. The service also provided a safe space for residents to receive attention and reassurance during the recovery period.

With the river’s flow restored and health services available, the recovery process progressed more efficiently and systematically. Agincourt Resources’ involvement in post-disaster recovery underscores the company’s commitment to supporting community life, safeguarding safety, and restoring hope during challenging times.
