PTAR Engage 123 College Students to Care about Biodiversity

Batangtoru, 17 June 2023 – Of 123 college students participated in the activity of E-Coaching Jam (ECJ) held by PT Agincourt Resources (PTAR), the operator of Martabe gold mine, Saturday (17/06) in Medan, presenting two experts in the environmental and biodiversity fields.

This ECJ was carried out at the PTAR booth in the event of Pekan Raya Sumatera Utara (PRSU) 2023 presented activists and academicians in the environmental and biodiversity fields as speakers, namely Ali Bangun Dea S.Kom, M.Si. as the Director of Scorpion Foundation Indonesia, and Dr. Puji Rianti S.Si, M.Si. from the Biology Department of IPB University.

According to Katarina Siburian Hardono, Senior Manager of PTAR Corporate Communications, this is the 23rd ECJ that has been held by PTAR since 2014. ECJ has bridged communication between 4,850 college students throughout Indonesia and experts in various fields, from mining, geology, environment, communication, and business, to manpower and gender diversity.

“At first, we designed ECJ specifically as a provision for college students to be ready to face the world of work, especially in the mining industry. Over time, we also present speakers from other fields so it can be attended by college students from all majors to enrich themselves before entering the world of work, since the fact that mining is a complex industry that integrates various knowledge and expertise to run its operations,” Katarina said.

During the pandemic period, PTAR collaborated with Universitas Gadjah Mada, UPN Veteran Yogyakarta, Bandung Institute of Technology, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Tapanuli Selatan to only hold online ECJ. Now, ECJ is back to be held online and offline.

In addition to holding ECJ, in the event of PRSU 2023, PTAR also presented several activities at its booth, namely a bazaar of products from assisted micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM), a photography workshop facilitated by the Indonesian Photojournalist Organization or Pewarta Foto Indonesia (PFI) Medan, painting competition in celebrating the National Children’s Day, and a photobooth challenge.

“PTAR also participates in the pavilion of South Tapanuli District by facilitating the performance from the Sopo Daganak Dance Studio assisted by PTAR at the night of cultural arts of South Tapanuli on 23 June, and supporting various competition awards and lucky draw,” Katarina said.

The opening ceremony of PRSU 2023 was attended by PTAR management, President Director Muliady Sutio, Commissioner Linda Siahaan, Director of External Relations Sanny Tjan, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications Katarina Siburian Hardono, and Senior Manager of Government Relations Irwanto.

According to PTAR President Director Muliady Sutio, since 2011, every year PTAR actively participates in PRSU.

“Through PRSU, we make efforts in providing complete information on mining management that is responsible for various real forms of the company’s contributions to directly affected villages and wider community in general. Participation in PRSU is also a form of our commitment to implementing positive partnerships with the provincial and district governments,” Muliady said.

He also added, PTAR fully commits to supporting programs run by South Tapanuli District, including participation in PRSU.

“Without the support from the government and community of South Tapanuli so far, we will not be as big as today,” Muliady said.

Meanwhile, the Head of South Tapanuli District, Dolly Putra Parlindungan Pasaribu expressed his gratitude to PTAR who has so far contributed to South Tapanuli District.

“PTAR is part of South Tapanuli District. We hope PTAR grows more so that it can give greater benefits to the community,” the Head of the District concluded.
