From Monday to Thursday, August 5-8, 2024, Agincourt Resources, in collaboration with the Semut Merah Environmental Care Foundation (YPL) and the South Tapanuli Environment Agency, conducted an Adiwiyata school mentoring program in the Batang Toru and Muara Batang Toru sub-districts. The program targeted 10 schools, namely SD Negeri 100715 Telo, SD Negeri 100714 Garoga, SD Negeri 100712 Hapesong Lama, SD Negeri 100707 Perkebunan Batang Toru, SMP Negeri 2 Batang Toru, MTsN 3 Tapanuli Selatan, SMP Negeri 2 Muara Batang Toru, SMP Negeri 1 Batang Toru, SMK Negeri 1 Batang Toru, and SMK Negeri 2 Batang Toru.

YPL Semut Merah assisted in completing the documentation for three schools aiming for the National Adiwiyata status: SD Negeri 100712 Hapesong Lama, SMK Negeri 2 Batang Toru, and SMP Negeri 1 Batang Toru. Additionally, mentoring was provided to two new partner schools, SMK Negeri 1 Batang Toru and SMP Negeri 2 Muara Batang Toru, as well as capacity building for teachers and students in the 10 schools to understand the concept of waste-friendly schools.
The Head of the South Tapanuli Environment Agency, Ongku Muda Atas, appreciated Agincourt Resources’ contribution to the Adiwiyata program. He stated that Agincourt Resources has set an example for other companies in supporting government programs in the environmental field. “Agincourt Resources has contributed significantly to Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) in schools and is now focusing on the Adiwiyata program. Gradually, Agincourt Resources’ mentoring for the Adiwiyata program has now reached 10 schools, and this serves as an example for other schools in Tapanuli Selatan,” he said.
Adi Zulkarnaen, a teacher at SMP Negeri 1 Batang Toru, expressed that this training was very beneficial for the school and students. “This training opened up new perspectives on the importance of preserving and protecting the environment. We gained a deeper understanding of how individuals and schools can play a role in maintaining ecological balance,” he said.
Agincourt Resources is committed to continuing to support government programs in the fields of education and the environment. Through the Adiwiyata school mentoring program, the company hopes to inspire other schools to participate in environmental conservation and create generations that care about the environment.
